90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days just wrapped its fourth season, and it was possibly the most talked-about season yet. Fans tuned in to see the latest crop of couples fight for their romance — and in some cases, decide to call off the relationship.

This season spawned one of pop culture’s most memorable couples, Big Ed Brown and Rosemarie Vega. While a few viewers of 90 Day Fiance might have been on their side initially, Big Ed quickly turned fans against him with his outrageous behavior. These days, people are still angry at Big Ed Brown, this time due to an unfair pay discrepancy.

’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ is a fan favorite

As one of the spinoffs of the original program 90 Day Fiancé, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has very nearly surpassed its predecessor in popularity. The show premiered in August 2017 to immediate fan acclaim.

Each season of the show tracks a handful of couples who met and formed a romance online, but who have not yet met in person. During the course of each season, the American half of the couple travels to their partner’s home country, where they meet face to face for the first time.

The couples go through a number of struggles and obstacles, including relatives who aren’t supportive and personality or lifestyle clashes. The couple must then decide if they want to continue their relationship and pursue the K-1 visa application process, or call it off.

Big Ed Brown and Rosemarie Vega are highly controversial

Season four of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days introduced a couple that would ultimately become infamous from the start – especially the American half. Big Ed Brown is a belligerent, opinionated California native, who first met Rosemarie Vega, who hails from the Philippines, in an online forum.

Their relationship blossomed, however, when Big Ed traveled to Rose’s home country to meet her for the first time, tensions flared. Big Ed displayed a tendency to be overbearing, and in short order, he told Rose that she should shave her legs, that she should brush her teeth more often (and use mouthwash), and that she should go to get tested for STDs.

Ultimately, the couple broke up — but that wasn’t the end of their story. Big Ed and Rose have continued going back and forth on social media in recent days, with Rose even accusing Big Ed of using her to become famous.

Big Ed and Rose might not be a couple anymore, but that isn’t stopping critics from coming after the much-older Californian. Recently, a Twitter user posted about how the fact that Big Ed got paid for doing the show while Rose didn’t is reason enough to not watch the fourth season.

There could be some merit to the post, as there are reports that while TLC does pay a salary to the American half of the couple featured in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, the foreign partners likely do not due to work visa concerns.

Not only does it seem as though Big Ed Brown got paid for doing the show, but after Rose posted an angry video stating that he didn’t “give her a penny,” many fans are now convinced the show gave him the option to share his profits with Rose and that he chose not to.

Big Ed has not directly responded to these reports, but he could in the days to come — especially considering how active he is on social media.
