Below Deck casts don’t seem to shock producers anymore, but Below Deck Sailing Yacht producer Jill Goslicky said she was (pleasantly) surprised with the season 2 cast.

Goslicky opened up about her experience working with the Parsifal III crew. She said she hadn’t worked with a crew so open as she did during season 2. “I’ve honestly never had an ensemble on any show in my career where the entire cast did that,” she told Bravo Insider. “So they’re really special in that way. And it especially translates to really fun to watch.”

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 2 crew went all in

Goslicky said she was thrilled with how the entire cast approached the series. “I think what I love the most about this cast is that they engaged in this process wholeheartedly,” she said.

“They just decided, ‘I’m going to be myself. If there are things that I want, I’m going to go after it loudly.’ You can easily have a cast that gets camera shy, that has things they want to hide,” she continued. “And every single person, especially Sydney [Zaruba], Gary [King], and Alli [Dore], they just decided, ‘This is me. This is who I am.'” Adding, “‘This is how I’m feeling. This is what I want.'”

“And because of that, they’re all wearing their emotions on their sleeve,” she added. “I was just impressed with how they just continued to give in to that and wholeheartedly be a part of the process.”

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ has at least 1 cringy love triangle

“There’s something brave in being as vulnerable as they were all willing to be, ‘cause there are times where they’re going through something tough, and they can easily say, ‘I don’t want this on camera.’ What is unique about this cast is every single one of them signed up and said, ‘I committed to being fully honest through this process,’ and they never looked back,” Goslicky added.

She admitted the love triangle with Dore, King and Zaruba could be cringy at times, adding she was constantly surprised. “It was fun to watch,” she said. But added, “It was heartbreaking at times. They had a major boatmance love triangle with a lot of ups and downs.”

King hooked up with Zaruba after the first charter but is heard telling her the hookup would be a one-night stand. She agreed, but it is clear she caught feelings for him. Complicating matters, King was clearly interested in Dore. Plus, he was Zaruba’s boss.

Zaruba is clearly hurt when King and Dore hook up, especially when they make out in front of her. She tries to deflect but then spilled to the crew that she and King had sex. Zaruba also stirs the pot, telling chief stew Daisy Kelliher that King directed her to not help the interior.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is on Monday at 9/8c on Bravo.
