Casey Affleck Called Jennifer Garner ‘Caring and Sensitive’ Post-Divorce From Ben Affleck
Casey and Ben Affleck are extremely close. The Hollywood actors worked on the same movies in the past and are deeply engaged in each other’s lives. Casey doesn’t often talk about Ben’s personal life with current wife, Jennifer Lopez, or past wife, Jennifer Garner, but the younger Affleck once revealed how he really feels about Garner. Here’s what Casey said about Garner’s “caring and sensitive” disposition.
Casey Affleck complimented Ben Affleck’s ex-wife after they divorced
Casey and Ben Affleck don’t enjoy the media spotlight, and they rarely comment on their personal lives in public. However, Casey once talked candidly about what he thought of Affleck’s famous ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. According to Casey, Garner is the “perfect aunt” to his two kids, Indiana and Atticus.
“Jennifer has been amazing,” Casey told Us Weekly in 2019, a year after Affleck and Garner divorced. “She’s just the perfect aunt. She’s so caring and sensitive and never forgets a birthday. She’s awesome.” Casey added that Ben is also “a really great role model” for his sons “the way an uncle should be,” and he often “pops in and out” to treat them to a day out in Los Angeles.
Garner and Ben separated after 10 years of marriage and finalized their divorce in October 2018. While the couple couldn’t make their romance work, they remained committed to co-parenting. Ben and Garner continue to have a loving and friendly relationship in 2024 despite moving on to new romances.
It’s unclear if Jennifer Lopez has a relationship with Casey’s kids. While Ben and Garner’s three kids get along well with Lopez’s twins, Casey hasn’t talked publicly about Lopez’s role in his kids’ lives.

Casey Affleck and Jennifer Garner helped Ben Affleck in his journey to sobriety, which may be why Casey thinks so highly of Garner. An insider told Us Weekly that Ben turned to Garner for help during their estrangement.
“Ben told her everything that was going on with his life,” the insider alleged. “He was devastated, but knew he had to change.”
Garner and Casey then found Ben a rehab facility in northern Los Angeles. “After everything they’ve been through, she is going to continue to be there for him when he needs her,” the source added, “no matter what the circumstances.”
Casey spoke to Entertainment Tonight in September 2018 about how Garner and the kids helped push Ben into sobriety.
“Alcoholism has a huge impact on not just the person, but also their family,” he explained. “So, I think for his kids’ sake, and for their mom, and for himself, he’s trying to do the work and get it together.”

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck sustained a friendship post-divorce. In the early months of marital trouble between Ben and Jennifer Lopez, he seemed to reach out to Garner for advice and assistance. A source told OK! Magazine that some of Garner’s friends wanted her to instill stricter boundaries with Ben.
“Some friends feel there should be more boundaries, especially with Ben so vulnerable,” the source alleged. “They don’t want her ensnared in his problems again.”
The source added that some of Garner’s friends worry that helping Ben could create “tension” in her romance with her boyfriend, John Miller.
“She’ll always love Ben,” the insider said. “That’s a given. He’s still the father of her children.”
