It’s clear that in recent months, the British royal family has entered a new era. Following Prince Andrew’s scandal and connection with the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, the young royals were forced to step up and take over many of his charities and patronages. Then in January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex resigned from their roles as senior working royals.

There had been signs that the Sussexes were unhappy for some time and there was reported tension between them and Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. However, those tensions have reportedly eased amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and with the Cambridges becoming the face of the royal family.

Now, it looks like Prince William and Kate are forcing the royal family to implement some of the things the Sussexes begged for, and royal fans are beyond furious about it.

Meghan Markle’s cries for help were ignored

We knew that things were dire for Meghan when she and Prince Harry decided to leave the royal family. “Meghan was convinced there was a conspiracy against her and so she basically put herself in isolation when they moved to Frogmore,” a source told royal expert Katie Nicholl for The Times. “She also felt like an outsider from the start, this wasn’t the life she was used to and she wanted out.”

In fact, when things became truly awful between the Sussexes and the British public and press, Prince Harry reportedly went to his family to beg for help. “Meghan said Harry made it crystal clear that they could not function in good faith under the current system…and that if it wasn’t revised and updated to their liking, they would have no other choice than to break from the royal family,” an insider explained to Daily Mail. “[Meghan] said no one took [Harry’s] pleas seriously, so they had to take the issue into their own hands. This was about protecting the family and doing right by Princess Diana. She said the British tabloids have haunted Harry since childhood and should have been kicked out of the media pool long ago. The system is broken and Harry wanted to fix it. She said he needed to take a stand and now they are doing it together.”

In the end, walking away was their only option.

Kate Middleton and the royal family just clapped back at rumors

Meghan spoke openly about trying to adapt to the British royal family’s “stiff upper lip” policy. However, she found that it was too much for her. “It’s not enough just to survive something, right? That’s not the point of life,” Meghan explained ITV’s Harry and Meghan: An African Journey.

Now amid Megxit, Prince William and Kate are also reconsidering the stiff upper lip. “It’s too rigid an internalization of emotions – so often the way in stiff-upper-lip Britain – is damaging to psychological wellbeing,” Prince William reflected in the documentary, Football, Prince William and our Mental Health. “We have to start questioning whether it’s relevant in today’s world.”

It looks like the Cambridges are done letting rumors fester. Recently rumors circulated that Kate was feeling “exhausted and trapped” in her increased role. Kensington Palace issued a rare and furious rebuttal to the rumors. “This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication,” they said in a statement.

Fans are furious that the royal family is jumping to Kate Middleton’s defense when they ignored Meghan Markle

Though it’s great the Duchess of Cambridge is sticking up for herself. Fans are disgusted that Meghan’s pleas for this type of support fell on deaf ears. “Meghan was attacked in the most malicious way.,” one fan furiously wrote. “The only thing the Royal Family did, was to publish a “social media community guidelines.” That’s it. As if the whole family have being attacked constantly and during their pregnancy.”

Another added, “It’s crazy the disregard to Megan & Harry. I’m sure they are more than happy they are out of those f*cked up British tabloid bullying.”
