Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s headline-generating romance appears to have inspired a Hallmark Channel movie. The feel-good network just announced that it’s teaming up with the Kansas City Chiefs for a football-themed holiday movie. Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story will star Tyler Hynes and Hunter King and premiere during 2024’s Countdown to Christmas.

Holiday Touchdown will star King as Alana Higman, who is sure that she and her family of Chiefs superfans are frontrunners to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Hynes will play Derrick, the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement. He’s tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other finalists.

As Alana and Derrick spend time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them. But when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) lucky Chiefs hat goes missing, Alana begins to question everything, including her future with Derrick.

Filming for the Hallmark Christmas movie will take place at Arrowhead Stadium

Production on Holiday Touchdown begins in July in Kansas City, Missouri. Filming locations include the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Hallmark’s corporate headquarters is also located in Kansas City.

“With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition, and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” said Darren Abbott, chief brand officer for Hallmark. “By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions, and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”

“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said. “As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”

Hynes, a Hallmark Channel regular, previously starred in a trailer (via YouTube) for a fake Hallmark-esque movie, Falling for Football, which was created by the Chiefs.

Skydance Sports, a new venture between Skydance Media and the NFL, is the executive producer of Holiday Touchdown.

With the Chiefs set to play a major role in the Holiday Touchdown, is there any chance that the team’s real-life players might appear on screen? As of now, there’s no word on whether stars like Travis Kelce or Patrick Mahomes might make cameos in the movie.

Kelce previously opened up about watching Hallmark rom-coms in an April 2024 episode of his New Heights podcast. “I dabble,” he admitted when asked if he was a fan of the network’s movies. The tight end has also expressed interest in getting into acting, though he added that he would need to develop some skills in that area first.

“I’m definitely interested [in acting], but that’s a whole new craft that I feel like I really got to lock in and focus on [before I do],” he told People in 2023 after hosting SNL.
