TikTok is a social media app used for sharing short-form video content created by its users. The app is actually an international version of Douyin, which was released in September 2016 in the Chinese market.
In 2017, TikTok launched for iOS and Android in most areas outside of China. It wasn't until August 2018Â when it merged with Musical.ly and became available globally. The social media app boasts more than 1 billion users today.
