The Reason Prince Harry Should Be Glad Meghan Left Him Alone at the Invictus Games
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived together for the 2025 Invictus Games held in Vancouver, Canada. After a few days of taking in the competitions, the duchess flew home early to reunite with the pair’s two children back in Montecito.
After weeks of backlash for their visit to Los Angeles County while the wildfires were still burning, and the damning allegations about the Sussexes in a Vanity Fair cover story, Meghan and Harry put on a united front at the Games and made sure cameras captured them engaged in PDA.
Now though, the Games are continuing without the duchess there and at least one expert thinks Harry is actually happy about that.
Meghan was in actor mode, making it about herself right from the start of the Games

As expected during the opening ceremony of the Games, Prince Harry gave a speech. What many did not expect was for Meghan to give a speech too. Although she introduced her husband, the former Suits star said she wasn’t planning on speaking. She captured headlines with her remarks though which is why many people aren’t buying that it was an “impromptu” speech.
Biographer and royal expert Hugo Vickers doubts Meghan’s sincerity because she’s an “actress” who treated the event like the “Oscars” and made it all about her.
He told The Sun: “It was very much like a sort of Oscar ceremony, wasn’t it? Meghan suddenly leaps onto the stage and says she wasn’t intending to say anything, but she was so excited to be back in Canada that she decided to do so. She was owning the games at that point, and she was telling us that this figure was about to appear on the stage. We all knew it was going to be Prince Harry, and then to give him a kiss and things. Yes, it showed in a united front. But you must remember she’s an actress, so I don’t know how seriously one can take that.”
Vickers added: “I think she definitely used it to assert her own position. I would have much preferred it if he [Harry] had come on his own. There was a discussion the other day in which somebody was saying her place on these occasions is in the stands watching the games, and cheering people on rather than taking center stage.
“What we wanted to hear was a welcome from Prince Harry to the participants and then to see lots of what the participants are getting up to. But once again, they have to keep producing things which get attention, and this was an opportunity which certainly was not missed.”
Expert thinks Prince Harry is happy that Meghan left early

Vickers believes that Harry is glad Meghan left so he can focus on the Games and fully supporting the competitors now that he’s there by himself.
The expert also opined that Meghan’s departure was not only about just getting back to her children but also because it was a pretty bad look for the Games to have her actions and wardrobe making headlines instead of the athletes’ accomplishments.
“I think it’s very important that Prince Harry should be concentrating on the participants of the Invictus games and supporting them,” Vickers said. “It’s a much better look for the Games to have him there on his own, rather than it being a Meghan Markle Show, which it has been to some extent at the beginning. So I think that’s really what it’s about.
“In my view, [Harry] does that better than when she is around, because we saw earlier in the week, she sort of took the whole thing over, it became the Meghan Markle show. I think that was a pity because the Invictus games is a fantastic achievement, and it’s a wonderful thing for the participants, and it should really be focused on them.”
