‘1000-Lb Sisters’: Fans Think This Could Be the Reason Chris Combs Isn’t Losing Weight
Chris Combs may not get the most camera time on `1000-lb Sisters but he has still become a fan favorite. When he first started his weight loss journey with Tammy and Amy Slaton, he was doing really well and sticking to his diet. Since his procedure to remove a boil from his leg, Combs has backslidden on his progress. Now, TLC fans are calling out the thing that they think could be the problem.
Why do fans think Chris is having trouble on ‘1000-lb Sisters’?
While Amy and Tammy are usually pretty lax with their diets, Combs has been strict on himself. But surprisingly, fans think that could be his problem.
“Every time Chris is interviewed talking about his diet it sounds so extreme and unsustainable! No carbs, no starches, no sugar anything etc. Etc,” one person wrote on Reddit. “It’s clear that he hates it, and that is why it’s unsustainable for him. If he just counted calories and ate whatever he wanted within a deficit, I think he’d be so much happier and less prone to yo-yoing. (And he could eat plenty at his size and still lose weight!)”
“Did you notice he said something like, ‘I just want to get the surgery because I’m sick of dieting,'” another person said. “Does he even understand that the surgery means he has to restrict his eating forever if he wants it to work?”
“I think that’s what’s wrong with this family,” another person said. “None of them have really planned or planning to eat healthy after the surgery. All they can think about is surgery and then they go right back to unhealthy eating and then complain about gaining weight again. I’m not trying to be rude but all of them have just expected the surgery to take care of all the weight without them putting in any effort.”
“At the very least, he can simply reduce the amount of carbs/starches/sugar he’s eating,” another person said. “It’s no secret that going cold turkey doesn’t work for most people. Of course, it’s important to eat healthy, but when you’re at that size, I feel like a calorie deficit should be the priority and then you can slowly incorporate healthier choices over time to make it a sustainable lifestyle, at least that’s what has worked best for me.”
Chris Combs’ weight loss journey
Combs first started working to lose weight as support for Tammy. He became her accountability partner and the two kept each other on track with healthy eating and exercise. However, at the end of season 2, when Tammy discovered that she had pretty much regained all of the weight she had been working to lose, Combs felt that he had failed. He continued working toward his goal, however, in the hopes of getting bariatric surgery. Just when he was about to reach the goal that Dr. Smith set out for him, he had to get a boil removed from his leg, which limited his mobility. As he wasn’t able to work out during his recovery period, he gained about 40 pounds back.
What’s next for Chris, Amy, and Tammy on ‘1000-lb Sisters’
Combs, Amy, and Tammy have a lot of work to do. Tammy and Combs are still working toward getting their surgeries. While Amy has had surgery, she still has some work to do to change her eating habits and relationship to exercise.
