Tammy Slaton knows she needs to lose weight. In the emotional season 2 finale of 1000-lb Sisters, she opened up about the challenges she faced during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and her struggle to get motivated to change her lifestyle. Tammy’s health challenges have her family- — and viewers — concerned. Some of the show’s fans are even wondering if she can get help from another TLC star, Dr. Nowzaradan from My 600-lb Life

Does Tammy Slaton lose weight? She says she ‘just kind of gave up’

Over the course of the second season of 1000-lb Sisters, viewers have wondered whether Tammy will be able to lose weight. During the show’s season finale, “Do or Die,” which aired March 8, they watched as Tammy checked in with Dr. Eric Smith. During the appointment, she confessed she was not doing well with her diet.

“I had lost weight, but then COVID got me,” she says. “After I got out of the hospital, I just kind of gave up.”

Earlier, Smith had given Tammy a goal to lose 25 pounds. In the episode, she learned that she’d actually gained 21 pounds since her last weigh-in. She now weighs 665 pounds. Smith asks Tammy why she thinks she’s gained. She replies that she “just wasn’t doing what I needed to do.”

“I mean, sometimes I try to eat healthier, and then other days I’m like, ‘What the heck’s the point’ … I don’t know how to stop,” she says.

Tammy’s continued weight gain has her doctor and her family deeply concerned. Smith believes his patient is dealing with a food addiction and that she needs therapy to address the underlying causes of her issues with eating.

“It’s really a serious do or die situation for her,” Tammy’s brother Chris Combs says.

By the end of the 1000-lb Sisters finale, Tammy admits she needs more help if she is going to lose weight. After a blunt conversation with Chris, her sister Amy Slaton, and other family members, she agreed that entering a facility was the best path forward. However, finding a facility that could take her was a challenge.

“I decided to go into a nursing rehab situation,” Tammy says. “I want to get healthy. I’m tired of being like this … I want my life back.”

On social media, some fans wondered if Tammy might benefit from working with another TLC personality: Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, aka Dr. Now. On My 600-lb Life, Dr. Now works with obese patients who are considering weight-loss surgery. But prior to the procedure, they must lose weight by following his strict diet plan

“Not for nothing but I’m sure the producers of this show could’ve stepped in and tried to help her find a facility that would take her. I’m sure TLC has connections, Dr Now perhaps??? Just saying,” one person wondered in a comment on a post on TLC’s Instagram.

“I hope they get in touch with Dr Now I’m sure he could help,” another wrote.
