The 1000-lb Sisters star was taken into custody on Labor Day at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tenn., after officers responded to a call about a guest being bitten by a camel.

“Upon arrival, deputies were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department shared in a Facebook post.

Officers arrested Amy on illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment. The man she was with, Brian Scott Lovvorn, faces the same charges. Both were booked into the Crockett County Jail.

“In terms of justice in Crockett County, it doesn’t really matter who you are or where you’re from. This alleged illegal activity will be prosecuted in our court system,” Stephen Sutton, Public Information Officer for the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, told WBBJ Eyewitness News.

“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law,” the Facebook post noted.

Since 2020, Amy has starred alongside her sister, Tammy Slaton, on TLC’s 1000-lb Sisters. The show has followed the pair as they work to lose weight and navigate various personal issues.

The most recent season of the show, which aired earlier in 2024, spotlighted the breakdown of Amy’s marriage to Michael Halterman. He filed for divorce in March 2023 after four years of marriage. The pair share two young children, Gage, 4, and Glenn, 2.

In her most recent Instagram posts, Amy celebrated her youngest son’s second birthday.

“Happy birthday Glenn!! Momma loves you both! “ she wrote in the July 4 update.

Amy was arrested in 2010

Amy’s recent arrest is not her first brush with the law. In 2010, she was cited for stealing a book from Walmart. She was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay a $500 fine. She was also temporarily banned from Walmart.

“I really wanted this book and I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to try to steal it.’ So I put it in my purse. When I walked out the door at Walmart it beeped, the security thing,” Amy said of the arrest in a 2017 YouTube video.

After the incident, Amy vowed not to shoplift again.

“I always learn from my mistakes and this was a big mistake… I never will do it again,” she said in the video.
