‘1000-lb Sisters’: Tammy Slaton Released From Hospital, Where Is She Now?
While 1000-lb Sisters has been airing, Tammy Slaton has still been updating fans on her life in real-time on TikTok. On the TLC show, Tammy is still utilizing an oxygen machine and struggling to lose weight, but other than that, her health is stable. In real life, however, Tammy was admitted to the hospital. Luckily, Tammy recently updated her fans that she has been released.
Why was Tammy in the hospital after ‘1000-lb Sisters’?
Before season 3 premiered, Tammy’s TikTok was deleted. But recently, she got the account back and has been able to update fans about what is going on with her in real-time. On Nov. 23, she uploaded a video explaining why she went to the hospital.
“Around July of this year, I kind of had a mental breakdown and I lost myself literally super bad up until the end of August,” she said while coughing. “And then I took a break for September, which means I stopped filming for a month, and then in October, I filmed. Anyways, we are over with the season cause it’s on-air now but I ended up in the hospital because of carbon dioxide poisoning, which led to pneumonia and I was septic so yea, there’s that. I sound like this because after I got off of life support they put a trach in, so I’m trying to get used to that. I’m doing better day by day.”
Tammy was released
About a week after Tammy posted about her hospital visit, she was released. In her initial video, she mentioned that she would be moving to another nursing rehab facility to get her strength back. However, in all of Tammy’s videos since rehab, she’s kept the camera close to her face, which makes it hard to tell where she is. Though she is out of the hospital, Slaton still has the trach in.
‘1000-lb Sisters’ fan reactions
Since being released, Tammy has posted a number of light-hearted videos to her TikTok, which has made some fans worry about how seriously she is taking her situation.
“I am amazed that she just acts like it’s normal to have a tracheotomy and just treat it like it’s not a serious medical intervention,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Other fans felt that it might not be the safest thing for Tammy to leave the hospital.
“That’s not good news,” another person wrote. “Trachs are so easily infected and she’ll go home and vape/smoke and be in a gross environment.”
“I wonder how hard it is to change the trach and the tapes on her,” one fan said. “I’ve known people with swelling around the face that can make it a bit harder but never someone of Tammy’s size. It’s really sad.”
Ultimately, fans are wondering where Slaton is now as she hasn’t posted in weeks.
“She posted that on 11-29, wonder where she is now,” one person wrote. “Last post on the ‘ole TikTok was 12-1.”
