‘1883’: Rita Wilson Will Finally Appear in Episode 6
1883 features a cast of big-name celebrities including Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill. Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Hanks have also made appearances in certain episodes. Earlier this month, Hank’s wife Rita Wilson announced that she will also be appearing in the Yellowstone prequel. Although it wasn’t initially apparent when Wilson would show up, fans can now expect to see her in episode 6.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were cast in ‘1883’
Tom Hanks made a cameo in episode 2 of 1883. The episode showed a disheveled Captain James Dutton waking up after the Battle of Antietam. Hanks portrays a Union General named George Meade who arrives on the scene. He offers James a comforting pat on the back and a few moments to break down before taking him prisoner.
Two weeks ago, Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson announced on Instagram that she will also appear in 1883. “The secret is out—I’ll be joining my friends @faithhill and @thetimmcgraw on the show @1883official this season! Keep up with episodes every Sunday on @paramountplus to catch a glimpse of yours truly,” she captioned the post, along with a photo of herself and Faith Hill in costume.
Rita Wilson will appear in ‘1883’ episode 6
At first, it wasn’t clear when Wilson would show up in 1883. However, promo photos for this Sunday’s new episode confirm that she will appear in episode 6. According to People, Wilson’s character is a Doan’s Crossing storekeeper named Carolyn. The outlet posted a sneak peek video of Carolyn giving Margaret a much-needed break from the stresses of the journey.
She offers Margaret a lemonade, and when she declines, suggests some whiskey punch instead. The pair are then seen laughing and drinking on the front porch. A slightly annoyed James comes by and asks Margaret if he can trust her to stay put while he studies the river.
The group will face more danger in Sunday’s new episode
Unfortunately, 1883 Episode 6 won’t be all laughs and whiskey punch. The new episode is titled “Boring the Devil” and the synopsis on IMDb reads, “Shea helps Elsa cope with her loss. The group crosses another river and prepares to enter Indian territory. Thomas buys Noemi a gift.”
The group already faced a significant number of casualties during the first river crossing. Not only that, but the immigrants lost the majority of their food when one of their wagons sank in the river. Hopefully, the group will be able to resupply at the store where Carolyn works. However, as Thomas has previously pointed out, winter is approaching and lack of supplies and freezing temperatures will likely become a very real problem soon.
Additionally, as the group head farther West they will draw nearer and nearer to Native Americans who won’t be happy to have their land encroached upon. If the opening scene of 1883 proves anything, it’s that the journey is only going to get more dangerous.
