Spring is almost here, which means award season is upon us! Last year, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic put a stop to many entertainment awards. Fortunately, the industry has figured out a way to host ceremonies like the Oscars, Grammys, and Critics Choice Awards safely in 2021. The Golden Globes were Feb. 28, but there are still various upcoming award ceremonies that will celebrate film, music, and television. Here’s a schedule of the entertainment awards ceremonies scheduled for 2021.

Will the Tony Awards happen in 2021?

Unfortunately, the Tony Awards are postponed indefinitely. Broadway theaters shut down Mar. 12, 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Broadway fans weren’t shocked to learn the Tony’s were canceled last year, what with the little going on in the world of theater. Sadly, that trend has continued so far in 2021.

The 2021 Grammys and Critics Choice Awards will happen in March

What’s more, the Critics Choice Movie Awards typically occurs in January, but the event is now Mar. 7 because of the pandemic. This honor, former known as the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, recognizes cinematic achievement on behalf of the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association (CCA). Taye Diggs will host the ceremony this year, which fans can tune in to on The CW.

Like the Critics Choice Awards, the Grammys usually occur in January. Now, they’ll take place on Mar. 14. The 63rd Grammy Awards will air on CBS. Other award ceremonies to look out for in March 2021 include:

  • The voting for Oscar nominations will begin Mar. 5, and the nominees will be revealed Mar. 15.
  • The Writers Guild of America Awards ceremony will take place on Mar. 21.
  • The Producers Guild of America Awards will take place on Mar. 24

The 2021 Oscars and Screen Actors Guild Awards are in April

Like so many others, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ceremony was moved. Now, the SAG awards will take place on Apr. 4. The event will be simulcast on TNT and TBS at 9 PM EST. Later in April, the Oscars will occur. The 93rd Oscars were originally supposed to broadcast on Feb. 28, but the Academy pushed back the ceremony because of the nationwide theater closures and release alterations. The rescheduled ceremony will take place on Apr. 25.

Cannes Film Festival will begin July 6, 2021

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. This year, Cannes will take place over the summer. The festival will return July 6 and run through July 17. The festival was originally supposed to begin in May. But France is preparing for another wave of the coronavirus and has put lockdown orders in place. This forced the festival to get pushed back to July of this year. According to Variety, Spike Lee, who was named jury president for Cannes in January 2020, will lead the 2021 jury.
