2022 Grammy Awards: Some BTS Fans Are Worried About the Band’s Upcoming Performance
The 2022 Grammy Awards will be held on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. BTS are nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Butter.” At the award show, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are expected to perform.
Leading up to the 2022 Grammy Awards, Big Hit Music revealed that Jin recently had surgery, and both J-Hope and Jungkook tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). J-Hope recovered from the coronavirus, but some BTS fans are worried about the logistics of the septet all being able to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
BTS are expected to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards
The Recording Academy announced BTS in the first round of performers for the 2022 Grammy Awards on March 15. Because of this, the band’s performance is highly anticipated.
On March 19, Big Hit Music published a Weverse announcement revealing that Jin “injured his left index finger” and “required surgery.” While he recovers, the BTS singer is wearing a cast on his left hand.
Days later on March 24, Big Hit Music shared in a new Weverse announcement that J-Hope tested positive for the coronavirus. The label announced in a Weverse post on March 29 that Jungkook tested positive for the coronavirus.
Jungkook did not test positive for the coronavirus until after he made it to Las Vegas for the Grammy Awards. Meanwhile, it was announced on March 29 that J-Hope recovered and will be able to attend the award show.
Some BTS fans are worried about the band’s Grammy Awards performance
Because Jungkook recently tested positive for the coronavirus, J-Hope only recently recovered from the coronavirus, and Jin is recovering from surgery, some BTS fans are worried about all seven members not being able to perform at the Grammy Awards together.
“… From what I’ve typically seen, it’s about a 1.5-2 week recovery but hopefully JK is felling good by Sunday. My gut is telling me not to get my hopes up just in case…,” a Reddit user wrote.
“I have been so anxious about this month for them.. scared they won’t be able to all be at the Grammys and perform live as they have hoped for so long…,” another Reddit user wrote. “With Jin’s hand, J-hope getting covid, and now JK, these men have me so stressed lol.”
“… i know this live in person performance means so much to them and i really hope all 7 get to be on stage together sunday,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Other fans of the band are choosing to remain optimistic
While some fans are worried about the pressure surrounding BTS’ upcoming Grammy Awards performance, other fans of the group are trying to remain optimistic that all seven members will be able to perform together.
“… I’m like 80% sure we’ll get OT7 on the Grammy stage,” one fan guessed on Reddit.
Another fan wrote on Reddit, “I’m staying positive about an OT7 performance as well!”
