3 Character Introductions Rumored for the MCU’s ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
Given the neverending list of characters existing in the Marvel comics, it should come as no surprise that character introductions are always at the forefront of fans’ focus when it comes to the MCU. And, now that Kevin Feige has the rights to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, even more characters have entered the realm of possibility.
While multiple character introductions have been rumored for Phase 4 — in movies like Doctor Strange and shows like Falcon and the Winter Soldier — Thor: Love and Thunder will reportedly be home to a handful of MCU entrances. So, who is allegedly going to join the superhero soiree in the fourth Thor installment, alongside Natalie Portmans Mighty Thor and Hemsworth’s God of Thunder?
1. Beta Ray Bill
In the comics, Beta Ray Bill is another character capable of wielding Mjolnir who comes to use Stormbreaker as his primary weapon. The MCU has already tinkered with history here when it comes to the source material; however, those behind the films can easily find a different way to breathe life into the character. Ever since Christian Bale signed on, many outlets have been arguing that he is destined to play this character before Hemsworth bids the MCU farewell; however, recent reports indicate that someone else may be at the top of the list, and Bale is set to take on a pure villain.
According to We Got This Covered — relying on the same sources who knew National Treasure 3 was in development and that Marvel Studios plans to reboot the Inhumans by way of Ms. Marvel — The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth is on the studio’s radar for Beta Ray Bill. Liam Hemsworth could easily fit in the MCU’s landscape, yet would the actor want to jump from one mega-successful franchise to another, or does he plan to step outside the action/fantasy realm for a bit?
2. Hercules
Marvel’s Hercules may be making his way to the MCU via a brief cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder. We Got This Covered reported that Marvel Studios is eyeing Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard, Terminator Genisys, The Exception, Divergent) for the part. And while the Thor installment will likely provide a doorway, it will not dive into the character, as such will theoretically be reserved for later standalone installments or future mash-ups. WGTC relied on the same sources who knew She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel were coming to Disney+ when reporting this information.
3. Silver Surfer
Remember the Fantastic Four’s Silver Surfer? The MCU may use this character — integral to the family of explorers — as a way to provide a path to the Fantastic Four in the MCU. Everything Always reported that the Silver Surfer may debut in Thor: Love and Thunder. If Silver Surfer comes in Love and Thunder, it’s only a matter of time until Galactus — who may become the MCU’s next big bad — makes his entrace. Radd is forced to becomes Galactus’ (the devourer of worlds) herald to protect his family and planet in the comics.
