Gilmore Girls fans watched Lorelai and Rory Gilmore date around. They watched Luke Danes find and lose love, too. They even saw Emily Gilmore dip, however, briefly, into the dating pool. The series had a fair bit of romance, but not every love interest was given a ton of screentime. We think these three Gilmore Girls love interests deserved a bit more time and consideration.

Lane Kim’s high school love interest, Henry, deserved more airtime

Lane didn’t date a lot in high school. She had one ill-fated date with Dean Forrester’s friend, Todd, and a string of dates that Mrs. Kim set up. In between the two, there was Henry Cho. Henry was Rory Gilmore’s classmate. He was smart, funny, and seemed really into Lane. Her inability to tell Mrs. Kim about him doomed their relationship.

Henry ended the non-relationship when he realized he would never be able to date Lane openly. While Henry certainly had a point, we would have liked to see the relationship develop more before they called it quits. Allowing the two to go out on a proper date, even once, likely would have been enough.

Luke Danes and Rachel’s relationship should have lasted longer

In season 1 of Gilmore Girls, Luke’s ex-girlfriend, Rachel, reenters his life. The duo picked up where they left off, with Rachel moving right into Luke’s apartment. Gilmore Girls fans didn’t see much of them together for a relationship that was supposed to be pretty serious.

Rachel left Stars Hollow when she realized Luke was in love with Lorelai, although he had not yet accepted that fact himself. Seeing Rachel go because of Lorelai certainly gave Gilmore Girls fans hope that Luke and Lorelai would eventually get together. Still, it felt like a cheesy way to ax an otherwise interesting character. Rachel was absolutely one of the Gilmore Girls love interests that desevered more development.

Jason Stiles was one the ‘Gilmore Girls’ love interests that deserved more than he was given

Jason Stiles was Lorelai Gilmore’s season 4 boyfriend. As far as her dates went, he was one of the more serious ones. Lorelai and Jason both saw the potential for a future together until the Gilmores found out about their romance and promptly ruined Jason’s career. Jason was last seen running from the Dragonfly Inn after Michel Gerard told him his condo was on fire.

While Jason’s departure allowed Lorelai and Luke to get together, Digger deserved better. He was an interesting character, and their romantic entanglement was a unique storyline. We would have liked to see a bit more from Jason, especially the outcome of his lawsuit if we are being honest.
