3 Reasons Why ‘Sister Wives’ Fans Dislike Robyn Brown

Viewers and followers have criticized each member of the 'Sister Wives' cast at some point. Still, some family members are more universally disliked than others. Fans of the series largely hate Robyn Brown. They think she's manipulative and didn't have pure intentions when she joined the Brown family.

Brown family followers have spent more than 10 years watching the plural family on Sister Wives. During those 10 years, they’ve dissected the personality traits of each family member. While Kody Brown has very few fans, each of his four wives has at least some. Still, there is one wife who has fewer fans and more haters than the others. Robyn Brown, Kody’s fourth and now legal wife, has been heavily criticized by fans over the years. So, why do people dislike her so much?

Sister Wives fans think Robyn Brown is manipulative

It’s hard to say how well Kody and his three wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown, were doing before Robyn joined the family. After all, the series began during Kody and Robyn’s courtship. Still, fans point to Robyn joining the family as the Brown family’s tipping point. They argue that Robyn manipulates situations and has managed to turn everyone against each other.

One Reddit user pointed out how Robyn’s offer to serve as a surrogate to Meri seemed like a manipulation tactic to look selfless and kind. They argue that she never actually wanted to be a surrogate and didn’t think Meri and Kody would go for the idea in the first place. Later, they think, she manipulated the entire family into moving to Flagstaff so she could follow her college-aged son as he navigated the next chapter in his life.

Fans of the series think Robyn never really wanted polygamy

Robyn might have been raised in polygamy, but Sister Wives fans are convinced it wasn’t something she wanted for herself. They point to her inability to actively integrate into the family, as a whole, as proof. Robyn’s critics note that she seems mostly concerned with her nuclear family, not the whole family.

There is likely a good reason for that, though. In the family’s book Becoming Sister Wives, Robyn noted that she was apprehensive about joining the Brown family because of the number of wives Kody had when they met. The way she speaks about her decision to join the family makes it abundantly clear that polygamy wasn’t her first choice. Rather, it was something she considered because she had already been divorced. Robyn’s first marriage was a monogamous one.

Sister Wives fans think Robyn rewrites history

Robyn has spoken about her first marriage multiple times on Sister Wives. Sadly, the mother of five seems to feel a sense of shame over having a failed marriage. That would be perfectly understandable, argue Sister Wives fans, but they can’t handle the way she’s chosen to deal with it. Fans note that Robyn has attempted to rewrite her history, and they fear it is detrimental to her children’s well-being.

Shortly after marrying Kody, Robyn had a painting commissioned that showed a young Kody with her three children from a previous marriage. The time-wrap illustration showed all three kids young, with Kody, instead of their biological father, David Jessop. Jessop later signed over his parental rights to pave the way for Kody to adopt Dayton Brown, Aurora Brown, and Breanna Brown. Reddit users argue that the painting was a creepy way for Robyn to rewrite her history and “hijack” the Brown family’s past.
