Dolly Parton and her husband don’t call each other by their first names
Parton revealed that she and Dean don’t address each other by their first names. Instead, they have nicknames for each other. It was revealed in a 1982 interview with Ladies Home Journal that Dean sometimes calls Parton Angel Cakes, Mama, and a few other pet names. Parton says Dean gets mad when she calls him by his first name because it seems so formal.
“It makes him fee-urious when I call him Carl,” she tells Ladies Home Journal. “I always call him Daddy and he calls me Mama or Little Kid or Angel Cakes. Sometimes he calls me Dotty to be silly: ‘Okay, Li’l Dotty.’ Maybe once a year I call him Carl and it seems so cold that it really upsets him. Then he gets back by calling me Dolly, which cuts me to the quick.”
Dolly Parton reportedly keeps her microphone pack in her wig
Parton reportedly has a secret inside her wig. During an interview with Ireland-based Listowel Writer’s Week, talk show host Graham Norton revealed his favorite guest. He said his favorite guest is Dolly Parton. He says Parton keeps her microphone battery pack in an unusual place. According to Norton, Parton has a compartment inside her wigs that hides her microphone pack. He says she does this so she can show off her small waist.
Most entertainers keep their microphone packs secured around their waist, but Parton prefers not to do this. “Dolly Parton is so tiny, and so proud of her tiny waist, that she has a little pocket built into all her wigs for her microphone pack, so that her waist can stay as tiny as possible,” said Norton (via HuffPost). “She must have microwaved bits of her brain, but that is more important.”
Dolly Parton keeps her phone in her bra
A microphone pack isn’t the only thing Parton keeps hidden. She also likes to hide her phone in her bra. She told Billboard magazine about her secret hiding place during a conversation about her T-Mobile Super Bowl commercial with goddaughter Miley Cyrus.
“What’s so funny is I always carry my phone in my bra, because it’s so handy,” Parton tells Billboard. “I have enough space to hold it. It was so funny because I’m always saying, ‘My boobs are ringing,’ so I thought ‘How natural is this for me?’”
Dolly Parton has different clothes to match each of her houses
Parton always stays stylish. She once revealed she has different clothes to match each of her homes. Steve Summers, Parton’s creative director for more than 30 years, helps design her outfits. She has what Summers refers to as “home clothes.” He makes sure the singer stays glamorous all day, even on her day off. He even pays special attention to Parton’s shoes.
“I design all her home clothes to match her houses,” Summers tells W magazine. “For the lake, a soft jacket will have flamingos embroidered on it; for the townhouse, the colors will match the shades of the rooms. And, of course, her shoes will also be dyed to be the same as the clothes.
