This Tony-award winning musical has a few beloved songs, including “My Shot” and “The Schuyler Sisters.” When it comes to quotes, though, characters like King George and Alexandar Hamilton take the cake.

Here are a few of our favorite quotes from the Broadway production, now available for streaming on Disney+.

‘Immigrants, we get the job done’

America has a secret weapon when it comes to fighting the British. That’s Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, an immigrant from France and a military officer. What do he and Hamilton have in common? These two characters are immigrants, with Hamilton being born in the Caribbean.

‘And enjoy my show’

Sure, this is a rap-based musical about the American Revolution, but there’s one real star of this Broadway show. That’s King George of England, who starts the show off by reminding audience members that there’s no flash photography.

In fact, King George’s many cameos, and songs like “What Comes Next” and “You’ll Be Back,” earned the actor behind this character, Jonathan Groff, a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

‘If you stand for nothing, Burr, what’ll you fall for?’

Hamilton and Burr don’t exactly get along. These two have very different ideas about securing their legacies. While Hamilton is reading, writing, and fighting, Burr is waiting for his moment.

When they first meet, Burr gives Hamilton the advice of talking less, smiling more. Throughout the broadway musical, these characters keep meeting, with their final meeting costing Hamilton his life.

‘You could’ve done so much more if you’d only had time’

Time is a huge theme in Hamilton, with some referencing Alexander Hamilton’s short life as a reason he writes so much. Alexander Hamilton’s wife, however, Eliza, lives another 50 years after the events of the musical.

She raises funds in D.C. for the Washington monument, she speaks out against slavery. As someone with such ambitions, the Founding Father could’ve done so much more if he had time. If there’s a lesson to be learned from this musical, it’s to use time wisely.

‘I am not throwing away my shot’

This character did eventually throw away his shot, pointing his pistol at the sky when he dueled with Aaron Burr. When Hamilton’s son was in the duel, his father advised him to do the same thing. Hamilton didn’t throw away his shot, though. His legacy outlived him thanks to his national bank plan.
