‘Mario Strikers: Battle League’ (June 10)

The Mario Strikers series is finally getting another installment after nearly 15 years. Mario Strikers: Battle League lets players engage in traditional soccer matches. But, like any Mario sports game, it has some absolutely chaotic twists. As seen in the newly-released gameplay overview trailer (below), Battle League will allow tackles and attacks, including a Team Tackle that pushes a teammate into an opponent.

Additionally, players can use glowing orbs to charge and perform Hyper Strikes, or specialized and extra-powerful moves based on the chosen character. Of course, the game also has classic Mario items like shells, banana peels, and even an electric fence. As the trailer puts it, Mario Strikers: Battle League has only one rule: “rule the field.”

Mario Strikers: Battle League hits Nintendo Switch on June 10.

‘The Quarry’ (June 10)

Fans of horror movies like Sleepaway Camp, Friday the 13th, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre will want to keep their eyes on The Quarry. This “survival horror interactive drama” features famous names in the cast like Scream alum David Arquette, Ariel Winter, and Brenda Song.

The Quarry follows a group of counselors at a camp called Hackett’s Quarry, where the summer program is just about to end. The teens want to celebrate one last night together, but the evening quickly turns horrific when someone — or something — begins to hunt them. Every decision a player makes will affect the story’s outcome, including who lives or dies. Those who would rather sit back and watch The Quarry can do so in Movie Mode.

The Quarry arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on June 10.

‘Capcom Fighting Collection’ (June 24)

In celebration of Street Fighter‘s 35th anniversary, Capcom has compiled 10 of its classic arcade fighting games into one brutal brawler collection. Players can fight solo or with friends via online multiplayer. Plus, the arcade games have received some quality-of-life upgrades, such as a quick save feature.

Here’s the full list of Capcom Fighting Collection‘s games:

  • Darkstalkers (all five)
  • Night Warriors
  • Vampire Savior
  • Vampire Hunter 2
  • Red Earth
  • Vampire Savior 2
  • Cyberbots
  • Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
  • Hyper Street Fighter 2
  • Super Gem Fighter Minimix

Capcom Fighting Collection launches on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 24.

‘Xenoblade Chronicles 3’ (July 29)

Another highly-anticipated video game of summer 2022 is Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which will finally arrive five years after the sequel. This action takes place in Aionios, a world where two nations — Keves and Agnus — battle against each other. Players take on the role of one soldier from each nation, Noah and Mio.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will feature the same open-world format as its predecessors. However, the third installment allows larger parties to make for even bigger battles with a wide range of new abilities.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will drop on Nintendo Switch on July 29.

‘Saints Row’ (Aug. 23)

Finally, Saints Row fans can expect a reboot of the hit 2000s video game franchise this summer. Taking on some similarities to Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row follows three gangs in the fictional city of Santo Ileso. When the gangs begin to experience unrest, some members leave and form a new gang with the player character, known as The Boss.
