50 Cent Says His Son Is Entitled and That He No Longer Loves Him In Instagram Live Interview
The relationship between rapper turned television mogul 50 Cent and his son Marquise remains estranged. The two have a long and complex history dating back to Marquise’s childhood and unfortunately, it’s all played out publicly. Both men have taken their frustrations with one another to social media and fans have voiced their concerns with 50 that he is cold toward his eldest son.
But 50 disagrees. In a new Instagram live interview, 50 explains his side of the story and let it be known that there is potentially no room for reconciliation between him and Marquise. He also explained why he believes Marquise is entitled and said he no longer loves him.
50 Cent initially blamed his strained relationship with his son on his ex/son’s mother
50 and Marquise’s relationship issues began after 50 and Marquise’s mother, Shaniqua Thompkins, split. 50 claims that Thompkins has been vindictive throughout the years and has kept Marquise away from him due to her wanting more financial support. The rapper expressed his disappointment regarding the situation in a 2008 interview with MTV News, telling the publication:
“I think he doesn’t want his mom to feel like he’s a traitor,” the rapper said. “The time I spent away is the time he developed this thing he’s afraid to break with her. There’s nothing you can do about that. This is the toughest [thing I’ve had to face], because he’s my motivation.”
But now, 50 says he blames Marquise for the status of their relationship as Marquise is now an adult. He told Van Lathan during an Instagram live video, “I blamed it on his mom for a long time, but it’s not his mother, it’s him.” 50 then shot back at reports that he has not tried to see his son over the years, explaining to Lathan, “I’ve gone places where he was at and he left.”
50 refuses to give his son a pass for immaturity, explaining that he’s 23-years-old now. “He’s not a baby anymore, he’s a grown man.”
50 Cent says his son Marquise Jackson is entitled, he no longer loves him, and speaks on whether or not there’s a chance for reconciliation
50 says it’s been discouraging that fame has been the downfall of his relationship with Marquise. According to him, Marquise is spoiled and entitled.
“Entitlement is growing in someone you love and it’s the scariest part. His mother developed a level of entitlement that could not be matched but it filtered into him,” he said. “I didn’t think success would cost me my firstborn.”
50 further expressed his frustration, saying that he’s provided his son with a life that he was not afforded, hinting that he feels resentful over his son’s alleged unappreciativeness. When asked if loves Marquise, 50 answered honestly but his answer was also devastating to his fans. “I used to. It’s a complicated question. How long can you love someone that don’t love you back,” 50 asked.
Whether or not there is a chance at reconciliation between him and Marquise, 50 did not give a clear answer. He explained that he feels Marquise has betrayed his trust by intentionally surrounding himself with 50’s “enemies.” Marquise has shown support for rival artists if his father on social media before, which is what 50 may have been speaking about.
