Actor Michelle Trachtenberg died on Feb. 26, 2025, at the age of 39. In the wake of her death, we’ve rounded up some of her most memorable movies and TV shows, from her early career as a child star to her last on-screen appearance. Find out where to watch them, ahead. 

1. Michelle Trachtenberg TV shows and movies: ‘Gossip Girl’ 

XOXO, Gossip Girl. Trachtenberg portrayed Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl from 2008 to 2012. Fans of the series could always count on Georgina to bring a hefty dose of drama to the lives of Manhattan’s elite.   

Trachtenberg later reprised her role in the 2023 reboot of Gossip Girl, which marked her last credited acting role. Watch Gossip Girl on Netflix or Max. Remember to watch some of Georgina’s most memorable moments, from her introduction in Gossip Girl Season 1 Episode 15: “Desperately Seeking Serena” to her take-down by Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester). 

2. ‘Harriet the Spy’

Calling all ‘90s kids. Anyone who grew up watching Nickelodeon might remember Trachtenberg’s turn as the kid sleuth in 1996’s Harriet the Spy. It followed Harriet as she attempted to retrieve her secret notebook without spelling disaster for her spy business. 

At the time of writing, Harriet the Spy is not available on any major streaming services. Think: Netflix, Hulu, etc. It is, however, available to stream for free on Pluto TV. It’s also available to rent on Amazon Prime Video

3. ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Trachtenberg joined the cast of the popular series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in 2000. She played Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers. Trachtenberg remained a series regular, appearing in 66 episodes, until Buffy ended after seven seasons in 2003.

4. Michelle Trachtenberg TV shows and movies: ‘Ice Princess’

See Trachtenberg as a science-loving teen, Casey Carlyle, who soon finds herself in the competitive world of figure skating in Ice Princess. The 2005 movie also included other Hollywood stars including Joan Cusack, Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall, and Hayden Panettiere. 

Looking back on the movie in an October 2020 Instagram post, Trachtenberg recalled meeting “legend” Jodie Foster at the Ice Princess premiere, saying she’d been “beyond excited” to meet the “acting icon.”

5. ‘17 Again’

A year after she began playing Gossip Girl villain, Georgina Sparks, Trachtenberg went to the big screen, starring in the 2009 comedy 17 Again. She played Maggie O’Donnell, the teenage daughter of Mike O’Donnell (Matthew Perry), whose secret life is revealed—spoiler: she has a boyfriend—when Mike mysteriously reverts to his 17-year-old self, as played by Zac Efron

17 Again is not currently streaming anywhere for free with one exception, Hulu Premium. Those with a premium subscription to the streamer can watch it at no cost. It’s also available to rent on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video. 

6. Michelle Trachtenberg TV shows and movies: ‘Inspector Gadget’ 

See Trachtenberg play Penny, the brilliant niece of Inspector Gadget (Matthew Broderick) who often helps him with cases, in this 1999 movie. In a 2018 Instagram post, the late actor shared a throwback photo of her at the Inspector Gadget premiere, writing in the caption that she “still wish[ed]” she “could have adopted the dog who played Brian.”

7. Honorable mention: ‘Meet, Marry Murder’
