8 Legal Dramas to Watch After ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 3
Already watched The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 and ready for more legal dramas? As the Netflix original series based on Michael Connelly’s book series of the same name awaits a season 4 renewal, here are movies and TV shows to watch about lawyers. Bonus: They’re all streaming right now—no renting or premium subscription required.
1. ‘Matlock’ reboot
See Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock in this CBS remake of the classic legal drama. It premiered on Sept. 22, 2024, with new episodes airing every Thursday night.
That means there are only a few episodes currently available on Peacock. Bates’ Matlock cast also includes Skye P. Marshall (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Beau Bridges, Jason Ritter, and Elemental’s Leah Lewis.
2. ‘The Rainmaker’
This list wouldn’t be complete without a John Grisham book turned movie. The Rainmaker, which is streaming on Paramount+, stars Matt Damon as a new attorney who finds himself teaming up with a paralegal to take on an insurance company.
3. ‘Runaway Jury’
This is another Grisham book turned movie currently streaming on Paramount+. Featuring a star-studded cast—Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, Rachel Weisz, and John Cusack— Runaway Jury has a lawyer and jury consultant duking it out in court until they learn jurors have a lot more power than they think.
4. Legal dramas to watch after ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’: ‘Suits’
For those who didn’t watch during the USA legal drama’s summer 2023 renaissance, check out Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a talented legal mind working at one of the most exclusive New York City law firms on Suits. Mike gets hired by Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) despite not graduating from Harvard, a prerequisite for new hires.
Watch Suits on Netflix and Peacock. Also learn behind-the-scenes facts about the hit show on “Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast,” hosted by Adams and Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen).
5 ‘The Trial’
This eight-episode Netflix legal drama follows the fictional murder case of an Italian teenager at trial. It’s high stakes and high stress as a prosecutor realizes their own connection to the victim. Meanwhile, a lawyer wants this to be a career-making case and a suspect insists they’re innocent.
6 Legal dramas like ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’: ‘Your Honor’
How far will a judge go for his son? That’s the question in Your Honor when Michael Desiato’s (Bryan Cranston) son, Adam, played by Wednesday’s Hunter Doohan, is involved in a hit-and-run.
Set—and filmed—in New Orleans, Louisiana, Your Honor Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix.
7. ‘Dark Waters’
Based on a true story, this legal drama follows an attorney as they risk their career to reveal the chemical company their firm represents has a long history of dumping toxic waste.
Note: Watch Dark Waters sooner rather than later because the movie starring Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway is leaving the streamer at the end of October.
8. Legal dramas to watch after ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’: Criminal United Kingdom
Not technically a legal drama, Netflix’s Criminal United Kingdom is heart-pumping and action-packed despite taking place only within the walls of a police interrogation room. Every episode—there are seven across two seasons—features a different person being interviewed.
