1. ‘Thank you, Next’

In this Netflix original series, a young lawyer (Serenay Sarıkaya) starts dating again after a bad breakup. However, she’s quickly reminded that the dating world is complicated—ghosting, love-bombing—and doesn’t always go to plan. 

Note: Thank You, Next is Turkish so for those who aren’t particularly fond of dubbed TV shows or subtitles, skip this one in favor of other rom-coms streaming on Netflix. 

2. ‘XO, Kitty’

Kitty (Anna Cathcart), Lara Jean Covey’s (Landa Condor) younger sister from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before gets her shot at love in XO, Kitty. The Netflix original series, which is returning with a second season, follows the teen as she goes to a prestigious school in Seoul, South Korea. 

3. Rom-com TV shows on Netflix: ‘Home for Christmas’

Get ready for the holiday season with this rom-com about a woman who lies to her family about having a new boyfriend. She has until Christmas dinner to make it happen or once again find herself sitting with the kids. 

Like Thank You, Next, Home For Christmas is dubbed and set abroad—this time in Norway. Both seasons are available on Netflix. 

4 ‘Last Tango in Halifax’

For fans of British TV, look no further than this rom-com series about long-lost childhood sweethearts. Actors Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid play Alan and Celia, retirees who reconnect and face their families’ judgment along the way. 

Last Tango in Halifax Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. 

5. Rom-com TV shows on Netflix: ‘I Hate Christmas’

Same but different is the name of the game with I Hate Christmas. An Italian version of Home for Christmas, a young woman spends the weeks leading up to Dec. 25 trying to find a boyfriend. However, the rom-com TV shows aren’t exactly alike. 

All 12 episodes of I Hate Christmas are available on Netflix. 

6. ‘Love’

This series co-created by Judd Apatow follows Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) and Gus (Paul Rust), who don’t have a textbook rom-com meet-cute, as they navigate the ups and downs of dating. Seasons 1-3 of Love are streaming on Netflix. 


7. Rom-com TV shows on Netflix: ‘One Day’

Based on David Nicholls’ 2009 book of the same name, One Day tells the story of Dexter (Leo Woodall) and Emma (Ambika Mod). After spending one night together on July 15, 1988, viewers get updates on their lives—which, spoiler, involves going from friends to something more—on the same day for the next 20 years. 

All 10 episodes are streaming on Netflix. 

8. ‘Deceitful Love’

Buckle up for a steamy rom-com TV show starring Grey’s Anatomy alum Giacomo Gianniotti as Elia, a mysterious young man who captures the heart of 60-year-old Gabriella (Monica Guerritore). Bonus: It’s filmed in Positano, Italy, and offers gorgeous views of the Italian coast.

Last but certainly not least is Heartstopper. In this heartwarming series, a friendship forms between two teens at an all-boys school and soon turns romantic. 

Major bonus: Heartstopper has the most episodes—24—of all the rom-com TV shows on the list. So it should, at least in theory, be something viewers can enjoy for longer than a weekend.
