’90 Day Fiancé’: Angela Deem Tells Michael Ilesanmi ‘There’s Not Going to Be a Marriage’ in New ‘Happily Ever After’ Sneak Peek
90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem and her younger Nigerian fiancé, Michael Ilesanmi, had always hoped they’d get married in the U.S. But after a series of K-1 visa delays, the May-December couple ultimately decided to tie the knot in Michael’s home country.
In a new sneak peek of an upcoming episode of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, it looked like the couple’s plans might be derailed. Michael and Angela headed out to visit with some Nigerian expats to discuss what it might be like for Michael to adjust to life in the U.S.
But, after meeting the three expats, Angela exploded into a jealous rage and stormed off, exclaiming that she wasn’t going to marry Michael after all—because the expats were women.
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ stars headed out to speak with expats about living in the U.S.
In the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After sneak peek, Michael explained that he wanted Angela to hear what life might be like for Nigerians moving to the U.S. So, he planned to take her to visit some expats who had spent time in Angela’s home country and moved back to Nigeria.
“Today, I am taking Angela to see some expats,” he said. “They all lived in America at some point, and, hearing about life in America from them, I feel a little bit nervous.” The 90 Day Fiancé star explained that his fellow Nigerians had warned him about racism and de facto “segregation” in the U.S., which concerned him.
Michael admitted that he had ulterior motives for the visit as well. He actually hoped that his American bride-to-be might spend some extended time in his home country. “I want to hear about life from other people here in Nigeria as well,” he said. “Because maybe Angela might decide to start living here until we get the visa.”
Angela was immediately suspicious of Michael’s motives, wondering aloud why he would speak to others about the reality of life in the U.S. instead of to her.
“What would I care about people living in the States? I live there myself,” the 90 Day Fiancé star complained. “Why would you go to some stranger to tell you about what’s gonna happen in my house? Honestly, what is he thinking? Isn’t that what I’m here for?”
Michael wanted to discuss the possibility of Angela moving to Nigeria
When Michael brought up the issue of Angela moving to Nigeria at some point, she shut down her fiancé immediately. “No. I’ll listen out of respect to your friend,” she said of the expat he wanted to introduce her to, “but I am not moving here.”
Angela told 90 Day Fiancé producers that she had no intention of spending any more time in Nigeria than she had to. The 54-year-old grandmother of six had an aging mother and plenty of little ones to care for, and she also helped to support her adult daughter.
“I’m already upset that we’re thinking about doing a spousal visa, and now he wants to bring up me living in Nigeria?” Angela lamented. “I can’t just up and move. My family depends on me. My grandchildren depend on me. My mom depends on me.”
Additionally, Angela said, she would never think of leaving the U.S. “You know, not only that, I’m an American woman. I can’t give up hot water, electricity. I’m spoiled. I can’t live like that,” she confessed.
While Angela was careful not to insult Nigeria, she told Michael that she wasn’t comfortable spending much time in his home country. “It’s not a bad country if you’re raised here,” she said. “I wasn’t raised here. I just love America, Michael.”
Angela stormed off when she realized some of the expats were women
When Angela and Michael arrived at the restaurant, Michael’s fiancée was shocked to see three young women waiting. Since Michael had only mentioned a male friend, she immediately grew jealous and suspicious.
“I thought it was a guy we was talking to,” Angela said angrily. Standing up, she stormed off, exclaiming, “As a matter of fact, thank y’all for coming. I’m done.”
“I’m done. That’s a wrap, Mike,” Angela yelled as she headed back towards the car, leaving the three expats stunned and confused in her wake.
“I’m done,” Angela told Michael in a rage. “Take your a** to the apartment. I want to be away from you. There’s not gonna be a marriage.”
The 90 Day Fiancé star hinted that she was angry about being expected to take advice from another woman. “I don’t want a woman telling me what the f*ck is going on in America,” she yelled. Angela added to Michael, “And f*ck you, too. I’m sick of this s*it.”
“Why did you act like that?” Michael finally asked his future wife as they piled into the car.
“Shut up!” Angela screamed at the top of her lungs. “Don’t f*ck with me no more to-f*cking-day!”
