Babygirl Lisa and Usman Umar’s relationship on ’90 Day Fiancé’

Hamme and Umar did not meet on a dating app or website like many 90 Day Fiancé couples.

“We met online,” Hamme said in an interview with Without a Crystal Ball. “We met through a mutual friend out of the UK. I knew her, she knew him, and he was looking for a female companion. And I just knew her reputation, I’m like, uh, I don’t know about this…but send him through my filtered messaging, and I’ll see what it’s about.”

Initially, Hamme worried that Umar would be a scammer, but decided to talk to him anyway. Hamme’s age also presented problems for the couple as they had an over 20-year age gap between them. Despite these concerns, Hamme went to visit Umar in Nigeria and meet his family. While she was there, Umar started having second thoughts about marrying Hamme due to the way she treated him. Ultimately, Umar pushed his reservations aside and the two got married.

Lisa Hamme and Usman Umar are no longer married

It’s hard to say exactly what caused the split between Umar and Hamme. Leaked footage of the Tell-All special revealed that Hamme had used racial slurs toward Umar during their relationship. But according to Hamme, they broke up because he was scamming her.

“He used me,” she said on Instagram Live. “He married me just to be on a TV show that people would recognize his name to sell his music. I tried to work with him, his brothers tried to work with him. He thinks it’s just him, he thinks he’s going to do what he wants and he’s never going to apologize for anything he’s ever said bad about me. He’s posing as what you call a romance scam, which is very illegal in Nigeria. It puts that stigma back onto Nigeria again and that’s what I didn’t want to do.”

Umar, on the other hand, claimed that it was Hamme doing the scamming as she was withholding a $26,000 check from Cameo from him.

In December, Umar revealed that he had filed for divorce from Hamme.

“Lisa and I are no longer together, she was served [papers] last week and she [doesn’t want to] accept it,” Usman told In Touch at the time. “My lawyer called her so that she can explain why or complain [about] the divorce, but she yelled at him and cut the call.

“After that, she call on Zoom to lie to people as usual as she does,” he continued. “Now, I’m free and if you look at me very well you will see that I’m happy and getting better without drama and about the money she took from me.”
