‘90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ Season 5 Couples: Who Are Mike and Ximena?
One of the best things about being a 90 Day Fiancé fan is that if you’re bored with the current season, there’s always a new season in the franchise right around the corner. 90 Day: The Other Way’s most recent season finished up on Dec. 5, but 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 5 premieres one week later on Dec. 12. The upcoming season of Before the 90 Days introduces fans to seven new couples as they try to find lasting relationships with people outside of their home countries. Here’s what we know about one of the new season 5 couples, Mike and Ximena.
Who is Mike from ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ Season 5?
Thirty-four-year-old Mike hails from Thiells, New York, and works as a firefighter. Finding love hasn’t been easy for Mike, and he’s remained single for most of his life. He met Ximena on an international dating site, and in the Before the 90 Days teaser trailer, he tells cameras bringing Ximena and her two sons back to the States is one of his primary goals.
Mike recently sat down for an interview with The List. He talked about his experience while filming Before the 90 Days Season 5. When asked what motivated him to put his love life out there for the world to see, he replied,
“So I met Ximena on an international dating app in the middle of the pandemic. It was February, March 2020. So there wasn’t really much to do. I was like, let me just try this out, try this international dating app. So I’m like, all right. I didn’t think anything of it and I matched. I’m like, oh. We started talking. And then I mentioned [that] I saw, like, a casting thing about it, and I was like, oh, let me just try this. Never heard back. Finally heard back. I’m like, oh. And when I visited, that’s when we just did [the show]. Everyone tells me I’m crazy, but I was like, I don’t mind doing it.”
Who is Ximena from ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ Season 5?
Ximena lives in Pereira, Columbia. At 24 years old, she doesn’t speak any English, but that didn’t stop her from connecting with Mike on the dating site. A translator app helped the couple communicate, as Mike knows very little Spanish. On top of a language barrier, the couple had to navigate a new relationship through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ximena has been dating Mike for the past year, but borders for both America and Colombia were closed due to the coronavirus. This delayed the couple meeting in person, but as countries began to roll back restrictions, the two could meet in person at last while filming Before the 90 Days Season 5.
Ximena shares some unflattering information about Mike in the teaser trailer
Putting your life in front of a camera seems nerve-wracking in general, but one of Ximena’s confessions in the teaser has fans cringing. In a conversation between the couple in Before the 90 Days Season 5, Ximena says, “Your farts … it disgusts me. That makes me fall out of love. I’m not going to want to get married to you, I don’t want to live with you.”
The relationship seems to hit some rough patches. In another clip, audiences see Mike visibly upset as he runs away from the cameras. To determine whether or not Ximena and Mike make it in the long run, tune into 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 5 when it premieres on Dec. 12.
