’90 Day Fiancé’: Big Ed Brown’s Date Thought He Was a Woman When She First Met Him
Big Ed Brown, from season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, became famous with his failed relationship with Rosemarie “Rose” Vega. Things didn’t work out between them, and the couple split. Now Ed is single and looking for love in a new series called 90 Day: The Single Life. He finally asked out a woman he has a crush on, and she said yes, but during their date, she reveals something Big Ed surely won’t want to hear.
Big Ed Brown on ‘90 Day: The Single Life’
Big Ed is joined by Molly Hopkins, Colt Johnson, Fernanda Flores, Brittany Banks, and Danielle Mullins in the new and exclusive discovery+ series 90 Day: The Single Life. All of these previous cast members from 90 Day Fiancé and its spinoffs will return to look for love as they navigate the dating scene after relationships that failed.
Ed is 55 years old and living in San Diego, California. In episode 1, he reveals he has multiple dating profiles, and he even goes to see a dating coach. After getting some advice from his coach, he decides to ask out a woman who works at his favorite restaurant as a manager. Her name is Liz, and she’s 28.
Ed asks Liz out on a date
The time finally comes for Ed to ask Liz out after knowing each other for two months, and he goes to the restaurant where she works. But he doesn’t come alone. He brings a female friend who walks away to strategically go to the bathroom. Ed takes the time to come out and say to his crush that he thinks she is “amazing” after she’s called over.
“And I want to ask you out on a date,” he says. “So we can get to know each other.”
Although it isn’t an enthusiastic yes right off the bat, Liz mentions brunch instead of lunch the following day, and the date is set. “I’m glad that I’m wearing a mask to cover up my facial expression ‘cause I do feel like facial expressions can tell a lot,” Liz says to the camera when she’s alone.
When asked about the reaction that was hidden, Liz admits, “Um…I’m just baffled. I guess I just never really pictured him actually asking me out on a date. Yeah. But we are really good friends, and there’s definitely a lot of care on both sides. So I know that everything is coming from a good spot, and he has really good taste in food so I’m looking forward to the food.”
She’s also asked if there’s a “spark,” and Liz says, “I think it’s too soon to tell. I always see him here at work, so this will be different, having just like a one-on-one casual conversation.” She also mentions their “age gap,” since she’s 28 and he’s 55.
Big Ed’s date reveals she thought he was a woman when she first met him
Although Big Ed celebrated the situation with his friend, things are about to get real. Ed gets to the restaurant before Liz for their date, as they drove separately despite Ed wanting to pick her up. He’s seated at the table as he waits with his hair in a braid. It’s a nerve-wracking situation even for viewers.
When Liz eventually arrives, Ed says to her, “Talk to me about you. I want to get to know you.”
“I have not gone on one date since Rose and I ended,” Ed reveals to the camera. “I’m still scared of getting my heart broken.”
Next, Ed asks Liz what she thought of him when she first met him, and she actually says, “Um, I thought you were a woman.” Ed looks shocked at that statement before Liz adds, “‘Cause I just saw like the hair down.” That makes Ed laugh and say, “Oh my god, yeah.”
We’ll have to see what the rest of 90 Day: The Single Life has in store for Big Ed Brown.
