’90 Day Fiancé’: Biniyam Plans on Proposing to Ariela, But They Fight Instead – ‘She’s an Annoying Person’

In a new sneak peek for an upcoming episode of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, new parents Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre took their one-month-old son, Aviel, to celebrate the holiday of Timkat in Biniyam’s home country of Ethiopia.

Biniyam told TLC producers he was planning to use the holiday celebration to propose to his girlfriend. But when Ariela became overwhelmed at the busy, crowded event, Biniyam seemed to reconsider getting engaged.

In the latest 90 Day Fiancé sneak peek, Ariela and Biniyam donned traditional Ethiopian celebratory clothing for the outdoor celebration of Timkat.

“Timkat is an Orthodox holiday where people celebrate the baptism of Jesus Christ,” Ariela explained.

Biniyam told his girlfriend that people came from miles around to celebrate the holiday, which was filled with singing, dancing, and plenty of other holiday customs.

“Today is a special day,” Biniyam told TLC producers, grinning widely. “I plan on proposing to Ari. I would love to be with her for the rest of my life.”

The 29-year-old professional dancer wanted to keep the proposal a surprise for now. Still, he could barely contain his nerves and palpable excitement as they rode to the celebration. Even Ariela noticed that Biniyam was fidgeting with nervous energy.

Ariela quickly became overwhelmed by the crowds, noise, and heat

When Biniyam and Ariela arrived at the Timkat celebration, however, things between the couple quickly turned tense. Ariela became visibly anxious as they walked out into an open area, where crowds were dancing to music in the bright sunshine.

“It’s loud. It’s very loud,” Ariela said apprehensively. But Biniyam chided her gently, “This is not loud.”

The new mom told TLC producers she wondered if this was really the best place for a one-month-old baby – what with the loud speakers, hot sun, boisterous crowds, and priests standing on a stage spraying the event-goers with holy water.

“There’s hundreds and hundreds of people all jumbled together in front of these priests that are hosing people down with holy water out of a garden hose,” the 90 Day Fiancé star added incredulously.

As they got closer to the hoses, Ari became even more nervous. Everyone was pushing up against each other to get to the water, which was overwhelming for her.

After some time pushing to the front of the crowd, Ariela had had enough.

“Baby, this is too much,” the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star told Biniyam. “It’s enough. It’s enough! I gotta go.”

But Ariela’s boyfriend had a different possible explanation for why the 28-year-old might be so anxious.

“Maybe Ari is afraid of getting wet, but as it’s holy water, I think her evil spirit is afraid of being cast out,” he told TLC producers.

The couple blamed each other for the ‘ruined’ day

Whatever the case, Biniyam seemed fed up with Ariela’s negative response to the celebration. He didn’t seem to understand why she felt so overwhelmed or worried in the first place.

“What’s wrong with you? You want to ruin the day?” he challenged his girlfriend.

“No, you’re really ruining my day,” she retorted, adding that Biniyam was “pushing her boundaries” too much. “It’s enough for Avi, and enough for me.”

Biniyam wondered if he should propose at all

The couple bickered back and forth, but Ariela eventually declared that she felt the environment was too “overstimulating” for a newborn. The 90 Day Fiancé star also didn’t think Biniyam was working hard enough to empathize with her.

As for Biniyam, he was so unhappy about this turn of events that he admitted he was reconsidering his proposal altogether.

“Right now, I’m so mad,” the 90 Day Fiancé star told producers. “Ari, she’s an annoying person. She’s selfish, and she only cares for herself. I don’t know why. If I don’t calm down, I don’t think I’m proposing now.”

Biniyam reluctantly headed home with Ariela and Aviel, but it seemed that his plans for the day might not turn out as he intended after all.
