’90 Day Fiancé’: Brandon and His Parents Saw A ‘Grumpy’ Side of Julia When They Last Met
Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina are getting ready to live together in Brandon’s parents’ house on 90 Day Fiancé. But some foreshadowing indicates things may not go so smoothly. According to Brandon, his parents saw an explosive side of Julia when they last met her.
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ couple met via video call
On the season 8 premiere of 90 Day Fiancé, Brandon revealed that he met Julia through a friend via video chat. The 27-year-old Virginia native fell for the Russian dancer instantly. And in one of his first messages to her, he told her she looked like his wife.
“I met Julia through my best friend,” Brandon said in the episode. “At the time, Julia was working in a club as a go-go dancer. They video chatted me, and I fell in love immediately. She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. I couldn’t stop thinking about her.”
The two talked on the phone day and night. And after a few weeks of chatting, Brandon flew to Russia to meet Julia and ask her to be his girlfriend.
Initially, Julia applied for a visiting visa to come to the United States. But when it was rejected, Brandon met with her in Iceland and proposed. He then went back to the States and applied for Julia’s 90-day K-1 fiancé visa.
Brandon and his parents met Julia in France
After getting engaged, Brandon and Julia brought their families together to meet in France. Brandon noted that Julia is invested in family just as much as he is, and it’s one of the qualities he loves most about her.
“One of my favorite things about Julia is that she understands how important family is to me,” Brandon told 90 Day Fiancé producers. “So, we planned a trip to France where both of our families could meet. After that, we came home and just finished out the waiting time for a K-1 visa.”
But even after meeting Julia, Brandon’s parents, Ron and Betty Gibbs weren’t convinced she was in this relationship for the right reasons. “We really enjoyed our interaction with Julia,” Betty confessed.
“She seems like a lovely person,” she continued. “But I mean, I’ve gotta admit, both of radars are still out because we just don’t know that her intentions are for Brandon and [if she] has his best interest at heart.”
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star and his parents saw a ‘grumpy’ side of Julia on their vacation
While vacationing in France, Brandon and his parents said they caught Julia in a “grumpy” mood. And Ron and Betty hoped she would be happier when she arrives in the U.S.
“So I sure hope that when she arrives, she’s in a good mood,” Betty told her son. “We know that sometimes when she’s tired, just like everybody when you’re tired, you can be grumpy, and you can be not happy.”
Brandon agreed with his mom. And he said he hoped they wouldn’t get a “repeat of France.”
“We had our third meeting, my parents and her parents, we all went to France,” he then told 90 Day Fiancé cameras. “They all got to meet. They all got along great, and I did at first have this image of perfection when I first met Julia. And it might have been a little shattered when I saw her again in France.”
“I started to see her bad side,” he added. “The fact that she had some bad moods and things that she wants to harp on me about. I call her Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde because one minute she can be a total angel, and the next minute she could explode.”
Betty noted that it was embarrassing to see Julia so upset. “We walk on eggshells a bit,” she admitted. “But hopefully, she’ll be happy when she gets here.”
