’90 Day Fiancé’: Brandon Is Worried Julia Thinks He’s ‘Rich’
This season on 90 Day Fiancé fans were introduced to Brandon, a 27-year-old “late bloomer” who’s engaged to a 26-year-old Russian woman named Julia. Brandon and Julia have, previously, lived very different lives. Despite their differences, they’re trying to make their relationship work.
One issue that’s already arisen for the couple is the matter of money. Brandon has spent quite a bit on keeping up his relationship with Julia and he’s concerned his partner may think he has more money than he does.
How Brandon and Julia met before Season 8 of ’90 Day Fiancé’
Brandon met Julia through his best friend. At the time, she was working in a club as a go-go dancer. They spoke over video call and Brandon fell in love instantly.
“She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking about her. And my first message to her was, ‘You look like my future wife.’ And that was six hours after meeting her on video chat. From that point, we were on the phone every second we possibly could be. After a few weeks, I flew over there to ask her to be my girlfriend. After that, we applied for a visitor’s visa for Julia to come visit me in the U.S.”
Julia was denied the visa because she and Brandon were only dating, not engaged. So after meeting each other in person once, Brandon invited Julia to Iceland where he proposed. After that, the newly engaged couple took a trip to France along with their parents so everybody could meet.
Brandon doesn’t know if Julia ‘understood’ that he isn’t ‘rich or anything’
All of the traveling quickly took a toll on Brandon’s wallet. He said he attempted to explain to Julia that he wasn’t “rich or anything,” but he’s not sure if she “100 percent understood.”
“When I went to see Julia the first time, I was definitely in the plus when it came to money,” he said. “But now, I’ve found myself at more of my credit card limits. I paid for both of us to go to France. I paid for us to both go to Iceland. And I paid for all this stuff in the K-1 visa. I spent almost $10,000 in seven months. And she’s out of work at the moment. So, yep, I need to kind of support her. And so, I’ve got myself in a bit of debt.”
Brandon’s parents are wary of Julia’s ‘intentions’
Brandon is very close with his parents. He lives with them and helps with their farm and dog-breeding business.
“My mom can be a little controlling, always trying to tell me what to do,” he told cameras.
Initially, Brandon’s mother, Betty, felt Julia was “a lovely person.” But she and her husband, Ron, are worried about Julia’s intentions with their son.
“We really enjoyed our interaction with Julia. She seems like a lovely person,” said Betty. “But I mean, I’ve got to admit, both of our radars are still out, because we just don’t know that her intentions are for Brandon, and has his best interests at heart.”
