’90 Day Fiancé: Brittany Banks Says Yazan Isn’t as Religious as He Pretends to Be on TV
Brittany Banks and Yazan come across as very different people on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Throughout the show, Yazan has expressed how important religion and his family are to him. Those two subjects became huge points of contention between him and Banks. Now, Banks has revealed that Yazan isn’t as religious or family-oriented as he claimed.
Yazan and Brittany’s relationship problems
From the moment Banks landed in Jordan, it was clear that things were not going to be easy for her and Yazan. The cultural differences turned out to be harder to overcome than Banks was expecting.
Things only intensified as time went on. Yazan and his family pressured Banks to convert to Islam and quickly get married. When Banks was hesitant to convert, Yazan made it clear that he needed his wife to be Muslim.
Later, Yazan’s dad found old pictures of Banks that he deemed inappropriate. As a result, he told Yazan that he would not accept Banks. When Yazan refused to leave Banks, his family kicked him out and fired him from the family business.
Brittany Banks claims that Yazan tricked her
Fans have criticized Banks heavily for moving to Jordan when she wasn’t willing to convert or abide by the cultural norms. She recently commented on a video of herself to tell fans that Yazan presented life in Jordan differently to her than he did on tv.
“I feel like [there are] so many context clues in the show that shows that,” Banks wrote. “A woman like me isn’t gonna up and move to a country like that unless the person I’m dating can accept me as I am and the environment permits.
“Do y’all miss the parts on TV where he tells me one thing and tells his parents another, then gives me a random ultimatum pressuring me because of the lies he told his parents?” she continued. “I’m tired of being attacked when he knew exactly who I was when he pursued me and still does. Jordan culture does not prohibit this. His particular family does not like it, but I don’t live to please them.”
Brittany says Yazan isn’t that religious
Fans have really been feeling sorry for Yazan after he stayed devoted to Banks even though it meant losing his family and potentially giving up his religion. But Banks says that this behavior is not strange for him.
“Honestly, I feel like Yazan is like that with any woman that he loves, you know what I mean?” she told Entertainment Tonight. “He was like that with his ex-girlfriend. He was hooked on her, he really loved her. [When] he’s with me, he really loves me, he wants to make a new life with me, he wanted to make a new life with his ex as well. I don’t think that he values his family and religion as much as people think he does.”
Banks has also accused Yazan of drinking and using drugs in the past, which are both against his religious values.
