’90 Day Fiancé: Colt Says Debbie’s Doing the Same ‘Sh*t’ With Jess That She Did With Larissa

Colt Johnson and his new girlfriend Jess Caroline are reuniting in Brazil on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. But Colt’s mom, Debbie, isn’t happy about their relationship. And after she had a meltdown and yelled at Jess, Colt said she did the same type of thing when he was with his ex, Larissa Dos Santos Lima.

Colt was dating Jess for months before he told Debbie about their relationship. Given her history with his Brazilian ex-wife, Larissa, he was hesitant to tell his mom about this new Brazilian girlfriend. 

When Colt finally reveals his relationship to Debbie on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After and tells her he’s going to Brazil to meet Jess, she invites herself on the trip. Worried Jess will try to marry him for a green card, she says she wants to go to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes again. 

“When Colt’s in love, he doesn’t really think ahead, he’s just in the moment,” Debbie says on the show. “I don’t want that to happen until he’s ready for it, it’s not the right time –  I don’t trust Colt to make any good decisions. He proposed to Larissa after spending only five days together.”

Debbie has a meltdown in Brazil

When Colt and Debbie finally arrive in Brazil, they’re met by Jess at the airport. On the ride to the hotel, Debbie sees the lovebirds kiss, talk about sex, and reveal the names of their future children. 

By the time they reach the hotel, Debbie says she’s not feeling well. She lays down on the bed, and when Jess tries to talk to her, she yells that she wants to be left alone and slams the door on her. 

Jess thinks it’s rude that Debbie is behaving like this on their very first encounter. But the next day, when Colt tells her how Jess feels, Debbie insists that she just wasn’t feeling well. 

“Yesterday Colt and I flew over 15 hours, and it was overwhelming, and I kind of had a meltdown,” Debbie tells 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After producers. “It really upsets me that Colt thinks I need to be told how to act in front of Jess. I think I’m a very nice person, I don’t think I come off as rough. I may be tired, but I know how to control myself when I’m around people.”

Debbie’s relationship with Jess hasn’t started out well. And according to Colt, she’s repeating some of the behaviors she exhibited when he was with Larissa.

“I knew going into Brazil, my mother being there could jeopardize my relationship with Jess,” Colt says in a confessional. “And now she’s slamming doors, she’s yelling. And she’s just doing the same sh*t she did with Larissa.”

But when Jess suggests that the same situation Colt had with Larissa is being repeated, he insists Debbie wasn’t being mean to her on purpose. He tries to convince her that Debbie was just tired from the trip and not feeling too well. But Jess isn’t buying it, and when talking to producers, she reveals that Larissa already warned her about Debbie. 

“Larissa called me and told me about Colt and Debbie,” Jess says. “She say, ‘Be careful because Debbie’s not an old lady cute, she’s rude.’  First, I no believe it, but I think now, I need more time to check if she’s right or not.”
