’90 Day Fiancé’: Darcey Silva Says ‘Things Weren’t Right’ Just Before Georgi Proposed

Darcey Silva and Georgi Rusev are officially engaged. But, as Darcey & Stacey viewers know, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the TLC couple. According to Darcey, their engagement actually came after a bit of a rough patch.

Some 90 Day Fiancé fans have voiced their concerns for Darcey. They don’t want to see her get heartbroken yet again. One of their concerns is that the couple rushed their engagement. But, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Georgi reminds fans that he and Darcey had been talking for a year online and on the phone before meeting. So when they first met face-to-face, they already had a pretty solid foundation.

Darcey and Georgi have also been quarantining together. Darcey & Stacey fans will remember when Georgi left Bulgaria to come stay with Darcey in Connecticut, even though they’d only seen each other in person a few times. Georgi says quarantining together has only strengthened their relationship.

“We get to be forever together, and we can survive anything else,” he told the site.

Fans of the show will also remember the drama surrounding Georgi’s divorce during quarantine. The coronavirus pandemic put the divorce process on hold, which wasn’t easy for Darcey.

“It was confusing, but we stood by each other’s sides and we made it work,” she told ET. “And he did [all the divorce paperwork] on his own. I just wanted him to know that I was emotionally here to support him. We stayed strong.”

Darcey on the ‘tension’ she felt before Georgi proposed

Darcey tells ET that Georgi’s proposal was “very surreal.” Leading up to when Georgi popped the question, she felt he had been “a little less open.”

“You know, there was some tension in the air the night before… but what doesn’t hurt you makes you stronger and it was just, I didn’t realize, all the emotions he was having when he was a little quiet and a little less open,” she said. “It was making me feel like things weren’t right for some reason. So, I was a little caught off-guard. But, you know, we always work on our issues in the end, and I think he was trying to find the right moment, really.”

But when Georgi did find the right moment, Darcey was overcome with emotion.

“It was, like, so romantic, it threw me off,” she said. “I had no clue and I teared up and he teared up and I really felt his emotion. It really made me realize how much he does love me and just to be free, lean back, and just accept it. That’s when I knew it was right and I said yes.”
