’90 Day Fiance’: David Murphey Blames TLC for Lana’s Catfishing
It appears that David Murphey has become the latest 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days catfishing victim. A fact that everyone is aware of besides Murphey. No matter how many people present him with facts that his Ukrainian girlfriend Lana may not be who she says he is, he refuses to believe that his love story will not have a happy ending. Now, he is blaming TLC for the whole catfishing storyline.
Lana refuses to meet David
Murphey has been talking to Lana for seven years and has spent thousands of dollars on her without ever meeting the Ukrainian beauty. He had tried to meet Lana three times in the past, but she failed to show up each time. On his fourth trip to the Ukraine, she stood him up at the train station where they were supposed to meet in Odesa. Murphey had an old address Lana had given him from when they registered for a cruise so he went there to try to find her. Unfortunately, a man answered who told him that he had never seen Lana and had lived in the building since 1995.
After he returned home, Murphey hired a private investigator
“I know I got a lot of lies from Lana,” he told the camera. “So I’m hoping the investigator will validate that Lana is who I think she is because I don’t know if I’m ready to find out if my truth is not the truth.”
Murphey’s friend Victoria had to translate what the Ukrainian investigator found out about Lana.
“He truly believes that this is scam,” Victoria said of the investigator. “Because when they checked all data and all connections, they find out this girl [has] several dating accounts.=.”
“She [has] many accounts with different names,” Victoria told him.
She doesn’t,” Murphey responded.
“Yes, she does. And she [has] communicated with many other men under different names,” Victoria insisted.
Murphey refused to believe the investigator.
“I may have questions about why she didn’t meet [me], but that doesn’t mean I’m being scammed. I don’t trust anything the private investigator’s given me,” he told the cameras. “He doesn’t know her as I do. We’ve spent seven years in this relationship and I’m not giving up until I actually get to meet her. I’ll have to probe and ask questions and find out from her the real truth.”
David blames TLC’s editing
Fans have grown tired of watching Murphey get duped. So, some took to Instagram to ask him if he seriously believed Lana.
“It’s painful to watch you. If you are acting obtuse on purpose, please have more self-respect,” one person commented on a recent photo. “You come across as lonely and desperate, holding onto a dream that wants nothing to do with you.”
“I don’t control editing,” Murphey responded.
Another person wrote back to Murphey, “Editing? You still said the words, David. Facts are facts. Seven years, $100,000, stood up four times, tracked her like a rabid dog, then hired a [private investigator]. Editing didn’t make you look stupid, you did that on your own.”
“Nope. Nope. Nope. I am still going to say editing,” Murphey responded. “If you don’t understand what that means, I can’t help you.”
