’90 Day Fiance’: David Murphey Is Moving to Ukraine to be With Lana
Anything is possible when it comes to the cast of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days. For most of this season, fans were sure that David Murphey’s Ukrainian girlfriend Lana was a catfish. But now, it has been revealed that Lana is actually a real, living, breathing girl. After meeting Lana, Murphey proposed to her and the two got engaged. Now, Murphey is reportedly planning to move to Ukraine! Wonders never cease.
No one believed Lana was real
Murphey had the classic catfishing story. He met Lana on a dating website for Ukrainian women. He sent her lots of gifts but she would never meet him or video chat with him. This went on for seven years. During that time, Murphey flew to Ukraine several times and tried to meet with Lana three times. During each of Murphey’s visits, Lana came up with some excuse as to why she could not meet him.
Murphey’s fourth attempt to meet Lana was filmed by the 90 Day Fiance crew. This time, Lana just straight-up didn’t come to their meeting site. Instead of just accepting his loss, Murphey went to an old address that he had for Lana to try to find her. When he got to the apartment, Lana wasn’t there.
When he got back to America, he hired a private investigator to try to find out what was going on.
“I know I got a lot of lies from Lana,” Murphey said on the show. “So I’m hoping the investigator will validate that Lana is who I think she is because I don’t know if I’m ready to find out if my truth is not the truth.”
Unfortunately, the investigator only had bad news for Murphey.
“He truly believes that this is scam,” Murphey’s friend Victoria translated for him. “Because when they checked all data and all connections, they find out this girl [has] several dating accounts.”
David Murphey tries one more time
For some reason, Murphey still could not give up on Lana, so he went back to Ukraine to try to meet her again. When he arrived, Lana told him that she would not be able to meet for a few days because she had to go to some hockey games. Surprisingly, Lana actually showed up on the day that they had planned to meet.
Clips from upcoming episodes of 90 Day Fiance show that Murphey then proposes to Lana at the airport before coming home. She accepts.
“I have my girl now,” he says on the show. “I really have her. Everybody thought she wasn’t going to be there to meet me. Not only was she there but now she’s mine.”
David Murphey is moving to Ukraine
Unfortunately, Murphey didn’t get to stay on cloud nine for long as Lana soon ended the engagement.
“Right now, I would say we are not together,” he says in leaked footage from the “Tell All.” “I’m not going to say we won’t be together in the future. She’s under way too much stress with what’s going on with the show. And the people who bother her. I told her that’s part your fault, you can get off.”
Despite not really knowing the status of their relationship, Murphey is planning to move to Ukraine to be with Lana.
“It takes a year or more to get a visa,” he says. “Government isn’t even open. And now there is a ban on immigration. My next step is to move to Ukraine. I’m retiring and moving to Ukraine.”
