’90 Day Fiancé’: Debbie’s First Time Meeting Colt’s Girlfriend Jess Was Disastrous
After ending his marriage to his former 90 Day Fiancé co-star Larissa Dos Santos Lima, Colt Johnson has bounced back with another Brazilian woman, Jess Caroline. Their relationship has been playing out on the fifth season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? But it hasn’t been all smooth sailing.
Colt has been keeping their relationship a secret from his mother, Debbie, in fear of what she might say due to his past with Lima. But on the July 12 episode, he finally introduced them. Here’s how it went.
Colt arranged for his mom to meet Jess in Brazil
Colt initially intended to fly alone to Brazil to see Jess. But once he told his mom about their relationship, she asked if she could come along. Colt told Jess about the request in a later video chat.
“My mother would like to come to Brazil with me when I come and see you,” he said. “Like, she asked me if she could go…She doesn’t want me to make a mistake or something, or get hurt.”
“I feel like I owe it to my mother,” he continued. “She really got hurt a lot by my wife, and I want my mother to know that she’ll be okay with the next girl I’m with.”
But ultimately, Colt was optimistic about them getting together. “I really think that once my mother meets Jess, they’ll get along,” he added.
Debbie’s meeting with Jess had an awkward start
When Colt and Debbie were nearing Brazil, Jess headed to the airport to meet them.
Once they got off the plane, the couple started engaging in some serious PDA while Debbie stood awkwardly to the side. After a few more moments, Colt finally introduced Jess to his mom. But there were a couple of awkward pauses as the conversation progressed. However, Debbie admitted: “My first impression of Jess is that she seems like a sweet girl.”
During the car ride to the hotel, though, Debbie seemed to become increasingly annoyed as the couple made out and discussed their relationship. Eventually, she snapped and complained that she needed to get away and rest, citing the long ride to Brazil. But Colt speculated that she just might not have liked Jess.
The trip only got worse
The trio soon arrived to the hotel, but when Debbie learned Colt had booked only one room, she grew even more irritated. She decided to lie down and try to relax, closing herself off in a section of the room as Jess vented about her belief that Debbie didn’t like her.
Colt tried to console his girlfriend, but he admitted to cameras: “I’m worried that my mother will scare off Jess. She’s slamming doors, she’s yelling, and she’s just not being a team player. I’m not even finished with day one yet and this trip is already a disaster.”
He urged Debbie to spend more time with Jess and try to get to know her in a sneak peek of the July 19 episode of the show, but the outcome of their hangout is unclear. Stay tuned to see what happens from here.
