Elizabeth Potthast’s family is obsessed with Andrei’s past this season on ’90 Day Fiancé’

During the current season of Happily Ever After?, Elizabeth and Andrei have been in his home country of Moldova. The goal was to have a second wedding so his friends and family could be part of the celebration.

Elizabeth’s family – who is from Tampa, Florida – also traveled to Moldova to be part of the wedding. However, they’ve been experiencing some serious culture shock. They’ve also struggled to get along with Andrei.

Elizabeth’s dad, Chuck, and Charlie have been obsessed with finding out why Andrei chose to leave Moldova and move to Ireland. Their constant questions have offended Andrei. And, as Entertainment Tonight points out, the Potthast family has implied that Andrei is using Elizabeth to get a green card.

The family even met up with Andrei’s best friend, Marcel, to find out more about Andrei’s past. And, they did it without Andrei present. Marcel told them the police in Moldova are corrupt. He claimed Andrei left the country because he didn’t want to go along with illegal activity.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star finally explains why he moved to Ireland

When Elizabeth’s family confronted Andrei about what they learned from Marcel, she was shocked. The 90 Day Fiancé star said that Andrei told her he left Moldova so he could make more money. She demanded that her husband tell the truth or she wouldn’t go through with the second wedding.

“I knew a little bit about his past when he was a detective, but definitely not all of those details like he had to flee the country so he wouldn’t get in trouble. Like, that’s insane to me,” she said.

Elizabeth said she felt betrayed because she expected Andrei to be completely honest with her. He finally opened up to her, telling his wife that some corrupt people in Moldova who were connected to the police asked him to do “some stuff.”

“I didn’t do it. I refused to do it. I left. I had to leave the country because if I didn’t leave, they will set me up and I will lose everything — not only my job, I would lose my f**king life.”

Did the Potthast family fake the drama with Andrei?

Andrei explained to Elizabeth that when he was working in law enforcement in Moldova, sometimes officers had to do things that weren’t legal because “someone asked you to do it who has connections.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star admitted that he did what he had to do at the time. But, he eventually escaped. Elizabeth had no trouble accepting her husband’s explanation. However, fans have been skeptical about her family and their intentions.
