’90 Day Fiancé’ Fans React to Erika Owens’ Old Selfie
90 Day Fiancé couple Erika Owens and Stephanie Matto weren’t able to make it work. The two were the first bisexual couple featured on TLC’s hit franchise, but it seems their personalities just weren’t the match they originally thought. However, some fans felt as though Matto misrepresented herself to Owens from the get go. Meanwhile, one fan has uncovered an old selfie of Erika Owens, and some seem to think the differences between then and now are surprising.
Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens have explosive breakup
Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens wound up unable to make their 90 Day Fiancé relationship work. When the two broke up, Matto felt as though she needed more closure, or as if there might be more to say.
She asked Owens to meet her for coffee one last time before she left for the states. When the two finally got down to it, Owens had some hard truths for Matto. Owens started out by telling Matto, “I took a step that you wouldn’t even take. I came out to my parents because I believed that something with us was going to happen, and you broke up with me. It’s really sh*tty.”
Matto replied, “All I can do here today is apologize. I still have these crazy insecurity and jealousy issues that I need to work on, and I feel really terrible that I brought that into this relationship.”
Owens went on to add, “You should have told me any insecurities you had about my life or who I am as a person before you jump on a plane. You need to figure out your sh*t before you do something like that. That’s huge, Steph.”
Both ‘90 Day Fiancé’ cast members felt frustrated
After the two 90 Day Fiancé stars met up one last time, they both seemed frustrated with how things went down. Erika Owens was irritated with Stephanie Matto still, and felt fed up with her behavior.
Owens told producers, “I just don’t give a f*ck anymore, to be honest. I just want to forget any of it ever happened. But unfortunately, I can’t, because all of my friends are asking me about it. My parents are asking me about it. So I have to talk about it.”
Matto said, “And I get to go home and be upset and I can’t tell anybody why. I just bottle it up. So we’re both in sh*tty situations.”
Some fans felt as though Matto was a different person online than in real life, and that Owens probably expected someone else entirely based off of her online persona. One fan wrote to Matto on Instagram, “You come off as a different person from your online persona as to the real person you are and at the end of the day, it’s just the internet. Being real is sexier.”

One Reddit user was able to unearth an old selfie of Erika Owens from her social media. The photo features Owens with brown hair, looking comfy at home.
One fan pointed out that she’s very pretty, and that they felt she didn’t need any of the cosmetic procedures she’s been getting down. When one user asked about the procedures, another replied, “She’s admitted to lip fillers and Botox. Her lips currently look like two sausages.”
Another fan opined, “I know it won’t be a popular opinion, but I actually think she looks better without the half and half hair, I think it looked awful. It was slightly off center, which I know from experience it’s difficult to get perfectly centred, which drove me nuts. I think this is a bit plain for her personality but I’d prefer to see her with a happy medium.”
