As it rains, Paul and Karine head to a facility, and Paul tells his wife that she will be able to see how they “treat” water here in America. “I’m taking Karine to a water treatment plant so she can see some of the other things that America has to offer for our community,” Paul tells producers. At the same time, he mentions that he’s going to try and get a job there as well.
Karine doesn’t seem to be too impressed, and tells the cameras, “I think Paul taking me to the water treatment plant is ridiculous. He is obsessed. If Paul knows so much about pipes, he should find a job as a plumber.”
The superintendent of the plant, named Barry, takes the couple, complete with their son, on a tour. Karine is clearly not having a good time, and takes the umbrella from her husband. “You crazy, dummy,” she says.
When the tour is over, Paul asks Barry if they’re hiring, but they aren’t. When they have some alone time as a family, Paul asks his wife if she “had fun,” and she replies by saying, “No.”
During the conversation, Paul asks Karine if she wants to go back to Brazil. Everyone who watches the series knows that Karine wants to go back home to see her family. Paul mentions that they should go back to Brazil temporarily. This puts Karine in good spirits, and things seem lighter for them.
