’90 Day Fiancé’: Fans Roast Big Ed for Asking Rose Vega ‘Am I a Bad Person?’
90 Day Fiancé star Big Ed has become a controversial figure on the show. Originally, fans seemed to rally behind Ed. The reality star has personality to spare, and viewers were charmed by his charisma. However, once Big Ed arrived in the Philippines and began interacting with Rose Vega, some fans started to have a change of heart. Eventually, Big Ed asked Rose if he’s a bad person, and her reply, along with the question itself, has viewers roasting the star.
How Big Ed insulted Rose Vega
Big Ed lost a lot of 90 Day Fiancé fans after he managed to insult Rose Vega several times. The reality star seemed unprepared for the level of poverty he witnessed in Vega’s family home. Notably, he was alarmed by a lack of windows and proper roofing and doors, and had no qualms voicing his concerns in front of Vega’s family.
Big Ed also seemed to have certain expectations for Rose Vega. After an uncomfortable night together in a hotel room, Big Ed asked Vega to start shaving her legs. He told her, “Um, don’t be mad at me, but um, I noticed your legs were kind of like mine, they were hairy. Would you shave your legs?”
Later, during another hotel stay, Big Ed gave Vega a bikini, as well as a teddy bear. He then gifted her with a toothbrush and mouthwash. He said, “I got you a couple more things. This is going to be less romantic. So, this is mouthwash. And I got you a cute toothbrush because your breath is not pretty.”
Rose became angry and explained to Ed that she brushes her teeth every day, and that her bad breath is the result of an ulcer.
Big Ed asked Rose Vega if he’s a bad person
Big Ed and Rose Vega’s relationship eventually devolved further. Vega discovered that Big Ed had been keeping the truth from her during his entire time on 90 Day Fiancé.
Rose is a single mother to her son, Prince, and wants to have a daughter in the future. Big Ed, meanwhile, does not want more children. Ed already has an adult daughter older than Vega. During the first episode, Ed even admitted to his close friend, “Well, she already wants another child, she wants a girl. And I haven’t told her this, I don’t want to tell her this, but I want to get nipped.”
After days spent together, Ed finally told Vega his intention to get a vasectomy. The next day, he woke up to Vega gone.
Eventually, Ed met up with Vega again. Rose cautioned Ed, “Please change your behavior because you [will] see another girl and I think you will give her again what you hurt me [sic].”
He asked her if she thought he was a bad person. Vega, who isn’t the type to mince words or pander to others, simply replied, “Yeah.”
‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans roast Big Ed
90 Day Fiancé fans seemed to have a field day with Rose Vega’s answer to Big Ed. Many felt as though Vega should be lauded for standing up for herself.
“He was being so dramatic. You KNOW he threw that out there so she’d pity him and say, ‘oh no, you’re not a bad person! You just did X, Y, and Z, but you’re a good person.’ Rose made my life with her answer!!” wrote one Redditor.
Another added, “Rose showed true feminine power with that. She just skyrocketed to being one of the best girls in the show with her willpower to say it’s over for good. I don’t think most girls on the show would’ve done that, and she is an absolute queen for doing it on ‘em.”
“Right? She was really strong speaking her feelings and then she went right to the airport and said she missed her son. Pa, you did good. I hope my kids remember their worth in these situations like Rose,” added another user.
Another fan noted that Big Ed never really seemed to apologize. They wrote, “His first response to her saying that he hurt her feelings and lied to her multiple times was to say ‘so you think I’m a bad person?’ WOW. He didn’t apologize or anything, just threw a fit because someone dared to tell him the truth about how he’s a crappy person.”
