90 Day Fiancé star David Murphey finally met the supposed love of his live, Lana, from Ukraine. However, this isn’t the first time David Murphey has fallen for a Ukrainian woman overseas. What’s more, Murphey spent an incredible amount of money on Lana during their online relationship, and was stood up several times when he went to meet her. After a shocking reveal in which fans learned Lana was an actual person, the two spent more time together. However, Murphey hired a private investigator to help him find Lana, and fans have noticed that his interactions with the investigator were less than mature.

David Murphey spent tons of money on Lana

Many 90 Day Fiancé fans were shocked when they found out just how much money David Murphey was willing to spend on a woman he’d never met.

Murphey admitted to producers that he spent over $100,000 on Lana during their relationship online. Murphey was required to spend money on the dating service he used in order to chat with Lana at all, and was not able to chat with her outside of the dating service.

This had many fans wondering if Lana was even a real person, or if she was actually just part of a catfishing scheme aimed at draining Murphey’s wallet. Suspicions flared up when fans learned that Murphey had visited Ukraine several times to meet Lana, and had been stood up each time.

The tale is somewhat reminiscent of Caesar Mack, a 90 Day Fiancé star from a recent season who was chatting with his Ukrainian love, Maria, over the internet. Like Murphey, he had spent a large sum of money on Maria, who stood him up when they were meant to meet in Mexico.

The private investigator felt Lana was scamming David Murphey

Eventually, David Murphey wound up hiring a private investigator in Ukraine to try and help him track down Lana. Some fans felt as if this was a somewhat creepy move on Murphey’s part — clearly Lana wasn’t interested in meeting, and hiring someone to find out where she lives and who she is seems like stalkerish behavior.

Eventually, the private investigator told murphey that he felt as though the 90 Day Fiancé star was being played by Lana. In fact, he suspected that Lana was part of a scam aimed at David Murphey — just as fans had suggested.

The investigator told Murphey through a translator, “Because when they checked all data and all connections, they find out this girl [has] several dating accounts.”

Murphey wasn’t happy with the investigator’s suggestion that he was being scammed by Lana, and seemed to hold it against the investigator.
