’90 Day Fiancé’: Fans Sound Off On Tania and Syngin’s Massive Fight About Kids
In a recent sneak peek for an upcoming episode of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Tania Maduro and Syngin Colchester argued bitterly about their plans for the future as Syngin’s family looked on awkwardly.
During a trip to Syngin’s home country of South Africa after his brother, Dylan Colchester, was hospitalized for a blood clot in his lung, Tania and Syngin got into an explosive fight.
It all started when Syngin admitted that he was homesick for South Africa, where he’d been raised—and that he might even want to move back. Tania replied that she didn’t want to raise kids outside of the U.S., which sparked a discussion of whether the couple would even have children at all.
After the preview was released on TLC’s mobile app, TLC GO, 90 Day Fiancé fans swarmed social media with their opinions about the harsh words Syngin and Tania exchanged.
Tania accused Syngin of lacking direction and sending her mixed messages in their argument
In a recent 90 Day Fiancé sneak peek, Tania and Syngin had an emotional fight in front of Syngin’s parents and sister. Tania accused Syngin of lacking direction in his life, and both expressed doubts about staying married at all.
After Syngin shared his dream of buying land in South Africa instead of returning to the U.S., Tania admitted that she had major concerns about raising children in her husband’s home country.
“The only thing I’ve ever said is, I don’t want to raise my kid in South Africa,” Tania told her in-laws. “It’s beautiful. It’s great. But there’s a lot of racism. There’s a lot of poverty.”
But when Tania brought up children, Syngin nonchalantly reminded her that they might not even have kids together at all, much less anytime soon.
“Who says that’s even gonna happen?” the 90 Day Fiancé star asked his wife.
Tania immediately looked irritated and asked Syngin to “bring it down a notch.”
But Syngin didn’t back down, saying he was only being honest. “I’m saying what’s real,” the 90 Day Fiancé star insisted.
The fight didn’t ever calm down from there—ending in Tania breaking down in tears and storming out during the dinner.
For her part, Tania implied that she felt deceived by her husband when it came to having kids.
“Syngin always knew that kids were in my plan,” Tania told 90 Day Fiancé producers, “and it wasn’t until he got to the States that he was more like, ‘Actually, I don’t even know if I really want kids.’”
Fans were divided about who was at fault in the argument
On Reddit, 90 Day Fiancé fans immediately began to react to the explosive argument between Syngin and Tania.
Some fans blamed the argument—and even Syngin’s lack of interest in having children—solely on Tania, who has often been perceived as controlling.
“Syngin has changed his mind about having children?” one Redditor wrote. “Wonder if it has anything to do with Tania’s controlling, manipulative and unpleasant personality? Run Syngin, run!!”
Still, others took Tania’s side (at least in part), arguing that Syngin shouldn’t have married Tania if he wasn’t sure he wanted children.
“Didn’t Tania say she wanted kids?” one Redditor pointed out. “Why did he marry her if he didn’t want kids knowing she did?”
Yet another argued that Syngin was too “immature” to be thinking about children in the first place, especially due to his lack of steady employment.
“He’s painfully immature, a drunk, and has no job and no way to support a child,” the poster wrote. “At least he realizes he shouldn’t be having a baby.”
Many fans thought the couple seemed entirely incompatible
While many fans on Reddit took either Tania’s or Syngin’s side, other 90 Day Fiancé viewers simply thought the couple seemed incompatible—especially when it came to their visions for the future. And if they were having so many doubts so early on in the marriage, some suggested they should just call it quits now.
“They are so incompatible that I really hope they break up before they bring kids into it,” one critic argued on Reddit.
Another fan pointed out the couple’s fundamental differences, writing, “Tania wants children, Syngin doesn’t. I don’t think it makes either of them bad people individually. However, they’re incompatible and should have never gotten married.”
Still others thought neither Tania nor Syngin was ready for children just yet.
“Honestly neither of them are serious people in life, in general,” one fan argued. “Not working, free-spirited energy about them. I fear the same thing for both, that they will get bored of the kids lol. Tania needs to focus nearly as much as Syngin, and they both need to do a LOT of growing.”
While fans ultimately seemed to be divided about whether Tania or Syngin was “at fault” in the arguent, most appeared to agree on one thing: that trouble was brewing for the newlyweds.
