‘90 Day Fiancé’ Fans Think Steven Is ‘Shady AF’ for Wanting to Stay at Hostel Instead of With Alina
On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Steven tells his girlfriend Alina that he wants to spend the 90 days in Turkey in separate accommodations. Alina has her doubts about Steven being faithful, and fans agree. They think Steven wanting to stay in a hostel is “shady AF.”
Steven tells Alina he wants to stay at hostel instead of with her
Due to his devout Mormon faith, Steven doesn’t want to cohabitate with Alina before marriage. He wants to sleep in two different spots in Turkey to avoid breaking The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ “Law of Chastity” by sleeping together before marriage. He broke the news to Alina just days before their trip that he wouldn’t be staying in the same apartment as her. Understandably, this made her upset.
Alina and Steven reunite in Turkey on the September 19th episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Alina is worried that she will be in danger in a foreign country without Steven protecting her. She was able to convince him to stay with her for their first night. However, the night turned out to be a lot different than Alina imagined. Steven read to her Russian bible scriptures, and after they retired to their rooms to sleep, with Steven in the living room and Alina in the bedroom.

In the morning, Steven asks Alina to take a look at the hostel and discuss their living arrangements. Although being firm in her decision that she wouldn’t stay alone, Alina went along to visit the hostel that Steven booked. However, upon arrival, Alina refused to go inside to see it. Alina told him that she didn’t feel comfortable having him stay there and would feel better if he stayed with her. She told the cameras her other concerns. Alina said, “Also, I’m not going to let him stay in a hostel where he could communicate with other girls.”
Many 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans agree with Alina. One fan wrote via Reddit, “He doesn’t want to stay with her and cohabitate, but he’s willing to stay at what appears to be a very hip hostel where he will be cohabiting with other women. There’s no difference between sleeping on the couch with your SO in another room than there is sleeping in a dorm with a ton of women around. Pretty sus to me.”
Another agreed, “The way he tries to flip the script on her by saying he’s starting to doubt her intentions for getting baptized, but really he’s the one who is being shady. She’s right to start doubting HIM. Another fan said that they think Steven’s intentions are “shady AF.”
Will Alina ever trust Steven?
Alina already had doubts about Steven’s fidelity before he came to Turkey. In previous episodes of the season, Alina revealed that Steven asked her if he could “date” other women. Not only that, but she’s concerned with how close he is with his female friends. Just ahead of moving to Turkey to marry Steven, she asked her friend to test Steven with a flirty text message to see if he would take the bait.
Alina has already felt suspicious of Steven, and she doesn’t even know about his big secret. He revealed to the audience that he would be telling Alina about parts of his past he’s ashamed of. Alina doesn’t know that Steven isn’t a virgin. He had emphasized the importance of maintaining their purity before marriage to adhere to the LDS standards. However, Alina doesn’t know about his previous sexual relationships, and Steven is worried that this could make Alina see him as a hypocrite.
As of right now, 90 Day Fiancé fans are on Alina’s side about him staying in the hostel and leaving her alone. Right now, Alina managed to get Steven to stay with her so she won’t have to worry about other women in the hostel. However, fans are still eager to see if Steven will reply to Alina’s friends’ advances over text. Alina and Steven’s journey will continue on season 3 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.
