’90 Day Fiance’: Geoffrey Paschel Responds to Claims That He Never Truly Loved Varya
All of the relationships on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days seem to be going downhill this season. But one relationship that quickly crashed and burned was Geoffrey Paschel and Varya Malina’s. The two went from the verge of getting engaged to not even being together in a matter of days. After their big breakup and how quickly Paschel moved on, fans have wondered just how legitimate his feelings were for Malina in the first place.
Geoffrey and Varya’s breakup
After Paschel proposed, Malina gave a lukewarm answer.
“Maybe not now,” she told him. “I’m not ready to leave everything here.”
Paschel was unsatisfied and ended things with her before flying home. Malina texted Paschel afterward but he didn’t respond.
“The best thing for me to do is just ignore it and try to move on with my life,” he told the cameras on the show. “I feel like she’s messing with my heart.”
Geoffrey found a new partner in weeks
Just three weeks after Paschel returned home, he was already dating an old friend, Mary.
“I want to find happiness and I want somebody to find that happiness with me,” he said in a confessional. “I really do see a future with Mary so I’m hoping the closer I get with her, I’ll naturally start forgetting these feelings I had with Varya.”
He quickly made things official with Mary.
“I can honestly say that I want you as a life partner or as a friend forever. What would you rather between us?” Paschel asked Mary. The two then agreed to take their relationship seriously and Paschel swore that he was done with Malina.
“Maybe I didn’t need to go all the way to Russia to find love,” he said to the camera. “Maybe Mary is my life partner.”
How did Geoffrey move on so fast?
For Paschel, moving on quickly is nothing new. He has done it in his past relationships as well.
“My survival depends on what I allow to affect me and what I deflect,” he wrote on an Instagram post. “Of course, I can initially react to situations with visible emotions, but then am quickly reminded that I only control my own actions. Why fuel stress caused by actions of others? This gives others control of your life—such a vulnerable place to be. When I accepted the fact that there was no longer a future with Varya, I chose to be resilient. I turned off my emotions, checked out mentally, and left.”
Claims Geoffrey never loved Varya
After Paschel moved on so quickly, fans began to wonder if he ever loved Malina at all.
“I can understand that you [were] hurt that she said ‘not yet’ to your proposal, but not yet didn’t mean ‘never.’ It just meant that she needed more time,” a follower commented on his Instagram post on May 20. “If you would have truly loved her, you would have given her that time and not [ended] the relationship and [moved on to] the next best woman. I can’t understand this behavior.”
Paschel responded to this comment, “To each their own.”
Later, he continued and explained why he moved on so quickly.
“I didn’t want to [wait for her],” he wrote. “My expectations were not met just as hers apparently weren’t either.”
