In an old interview, the former '90 Day Fiancé' star, Geoffrey Paschel revealed why he refused a plea deal that could have kept him from jail. He was confident that he would be fully exonerated, but is now facing upwards of 30 years in prison.

Former 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star, Geoffrey Paschel is currently in jail after being convicted on all three counts: aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and interference with an emergency call. However, Geoffrey could have avoided all jail time altogether by taking a plea deal offered to him over a year ago. How come Geoffrey didn’t take the deal?

Geoffrey Paschel was offered a plea deal

According to a Starcasm, Geoffrey was interviewed in May 2020 by The Domenick Nati Show, where he revealed that he was given a plea deal offer. The former 90 Day Fiancé star revealed that he could fly to Russia to film with Varya Malina because his pending charge at the time was just a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault.

Geoffrey said, “They tried to drop the charges, but the ‘victim’ [Geoffrey uses air quotes] didn’t want to drop it and she pressed forward. And then they offered me no punishment whatsoever just to have it on my record. I said, ‘No! Absolutely not!'” Geoffrey was notified by his lawyer that if he didn’t take the plea deal, the victim and the lawyers would try to “trump up the charges,” as Geoffrey put it.

The former ’90 Day Fiancé’ star was found guilty on all three counts

According to CourtTV, before he appeared on 90 Day Fiancé, Geoffrey was accused of physically assaulting his ex-fiancée, Kristen Wilson, on June 9, 2019. Wilson recounted the events that night. She said that an intoxicated Geoffrey “grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head against a wall several times” before throwing her to the ground. He then kept her trapped in her bedroom, without a phone. After Geoffrey fell asleep, the victim fled barefoot to the neighbor’s home and called the police.

Both Ms. Wilson and Geoffrey took the stand to tell their sides of the story. After two days, the trial was over. After only an hour and 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury came back with a verdict. They agreed that Geoffrey is guilty on all counts: aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and interference with an emergency call. He was quickly taken off to jail to await his sentencing hearing on December 3, 2021.

Why didn’t Geoffrey take the plea deal?

Why did Geoffrey decide to take the case to trial instead of taking the plea? Well, taking the plea deal would mean that he admitted that he hurt her, but his defense was that Ms. Wilson was so drunk that she fell down the stairs and all of the injuries she sustained were self-inflicted. Geoffrey said in The Domenick Nati Show interview that he told prosecutors, “‘You do whatever the hell you want to do, I am not accepting anything other than a full exoneration.'”

Geoffrey was confident that he would beat the charges and be released as a free man. He said, “I know the truth…I know what happened. I was there. And I’m ready to face it.” He repeated, “I have everything that I need to exonerate me.” He then claimed that this whole case is “just a ploy” and an “agenda” in an attempt to make him “lose custody of my child.”

Geoffrey believed that his ex-wife and ex-girlfriends were in cahoots, conspiring against him to make it, so he lost custody. Instead of just a slap on the wrist, Geoffrey is facing anywhere from eight to 30 years behind bars. 90 Day Fiancé viewers can find out just how long he will be spending behind bars from CourtTV updates.
