As seen on ’90 Day Fiancé, Andrei’s relationship with Elizabeth’s family hasn’t been the best

Andrei and Elizebeth have gone through their share of relationship hurdles, as seen on their 90 Day Fiancé journey. But one of their biggest issues has been the tension between Andrei and Elizabeth’s family.

Her father, Chuck Potthast, has criticized Andrei for not working and providing for his daughter. And Elizabeth’s siblings, including her sister Jen, have accused him of being a controlling husband.

And on this season of Happily Ever After?, the tensions escalated when Andrei told Elizabeth he expected her father to pay for their second wedding in Moldova. Andrei suggested that because he paid for their wedding in America, her father should pay for the celebration in Moldova because he gave his other daughters the wedding of their “dreams.”

“Chuck didn’t pay for our first wedding,” Andrei said in a confessional. “I paid for our first wedding because I had savings from when I was working in Ireland. And I would pay for my daughter’s wedding. And I think Chuck should pay for Elizabeth’s, too.”

Elizabeth asked her father to pay for the wedding on this season of ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’

Earlier on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, soon after Andrei announced his abrupt plans for a Moldovan wedding at Chuck’s birthday party, Elizabeth reluctantly asked her father to pay for it.  Through tears, she told Chuck that she felt bad about asking him for money, but felt trapped because of the pressure Andrei was putting on her.

“This is the last thing I want to do,” Elizabeth said. “He’s putting it all on me, and I don’t want to deal with it. It’s just a lot at once.”

Even though he was annoyed that Andrei didn’t come to discuss the matter himself, Chuck agreed to pay for the wedding. “Sweetie, you know I’m going to be there for you,” he told his daughter. “Look, you know I’m gonna pay for your wedding — I’m saying yes because I want to see you happy.”

Jen calls Andrei and Elizabeth’s wedding ‘over-the-top’

In the Sept. 13 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Elizabeth and Andrei get married in a traditional Moldovan ceremony with their family and friends in attendance. After the ceremony, they head to the lavishly decorated reception hall, where a live band is playing on stage.

“Entertainment at Moldovan weddings are always a big thing,” Andrei tells producers. “We have nice music, high-quality dancers and singers. It’s going to be nice.”

As ballroom dancers take the stage, guests rise for Andrei and Elizabeth’s grand entrance. The couple walks into the ballroom with Andrei’s brother and his wife, and get seated at the head table. Jen seems stunned by the grandeur of the affair and suggests it’s all a result of her father’s generosity.

“Andrei and Libby’s wedding is so over-the-top,” Jen tells producers. “The way that they were describing this reception was that it was going to be low-key and everything. And then we walk in and it’s like oh, this is where the f*ck all the money has gone that my dad has given them.”

It’s no secret that Chuck paid for the wedding. But it will be interesting to see whether or not he approves of the way Andrei and Elizabeth spent the money he gave them.
