’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’: Kalani’s Mom Confronts Asuelu’s Family Like a Boss
Asuelu Pulaa’s mom has been pestering both him and his wife Kalani Faagata to send her more money than they can afford, as seen this season on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. But when both sides of the family finally get together to resolve the issue, Kalani’s mom, Lisa gets into a heated exchange with Asuelu’s family.
Kalani and Asuelu go to therapy over his family’s demands on ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’
Asuelu and Kalani have been fighting on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, and a lot of their issues have to do with his family. Based on their Samoan culture, they expect him to send substantial sums of money back home to help the family. But Asuelu and Kalani aren’t in a position where they can afford to do so.
In an earlier episode, Asuelu’s mom, Lesina, and his sister, Tammy confronted Kalani and told her they would rather see him divorced than not get money. Shocked, Kalani decides to step away from the situation, but Tammy lunges in to attack her.
After Lesina subdues Tammy, Kalani walks away. But the incident just adds more tension to her marriage, and she tells Asuelu they need to see a marriage counselor if they want to stay married.
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star realizes his family is being unreasonable
After going to therapy, and getting a stern warning from Kalani’s dad, Low, Asuelu realizes that he has to put his kids and wife first. When his mom and sisters come to visit him in Utah, he confronts them about what they said to Kalani.
He asks his mom directly if she cares for the well being of his family, but again, she slams Kalani for not wanting to send her money. Then, when Asuelu sternly tells her that she should apologize to his wife, Lesina demands he get a divorce.
“I see now what happened,” she says to Asuelu. “You put your wife first in your mind, but what about your mom? That’s why I need [a] divorce, please.”
Then later, when talking to 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After producers, Lesina admits she’s trying to scare Kalani into agreeing to send her more money. “Maybe if Kalani knows that Asuelu will divorce her, she’ll be scared and she will become a good wife to Asuelu.”
Kalani’s mom confronts Asuelu’s family
Asuelu and Kalani’s families come together to discuss their issues on the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. Kalani tells her mother-in-law that she just wants answers.
“You hated what I need from my son, and you are not obeying what I want,” Asuelu’s mom tells Kalani.
Asuelu, Kalani, and her parents calmly try to explain that they can’t afford to send the amount of money Lesina and Tammy are demanding. But when Lesina continues to insist, Kalani’s mom, Lisa confronts her directly.
“So they’re just supposed to fight, just so that you’re happy?” she asks Lesina.
Tammy questions Lisa for addressing her mom. But she snaps back at her. “Tammy, why are you butting in?”
Lisa calmly tells Lesina that Kalani and Asuelu can’t give what they don’t have. But Tammy interrupts again, saying, “You can’t tell my mom, my mom can tell Asuelu.”
“I can tell your mom in a sweet respectful way, please,” Lisa says.
Asuelu finally steps in and tells his mom that she has to stop pressuring him. Then, while still insisting he needs to send money, Lesina reluctantly apologizes to Kalani.
After the meeting, Lesina and Tammy fly back to Washington. But Tammy still has an axe to grind. Fans will get to see if she causes any more tension between Asuelu and Kalani as this season continues to unfold.
