90 Day Fiancé fans groaned collectively when they discovered that Jay Smith and Ashley Martson got back together again. The couple have had a tumultuous on-again-off-again relationship since Jay Smith cheated on Martson during their marriage. Since then Smith and Martson have gotten back together once, split again, and are back together again now. However, they were undergoing the divorce process for quite some time, and fans are wondering why the papers never went through. According to Martson, it’s all because of Jay Smith. 

Ashley Martson and Jay Smith reunited in summer, split

Ashley Martson and Jay Smith originally split when Smith cheated on Martson. Smith had sex with a woman in the bathroom of the barbershop he worked at, prompting Martson to begin the divorce process. 

However, the 90 Day Fiancé couple got back together again in the summer of 2019. At the time, Martson told In Touch Weekly, “I’m a big believer in following your heart and it is true that I took Jay back once again. I know people will judge me and, while I can accept that, it was ultimately my decision.”

Sadly, it seems as if history repeats itself. Martson alleged that Jay Smith cheated on her once again. She claimed, “However, what my friend is saying turned out to be true and Jay confirmed it himself on the phone that he did indeed have another girl who is claiming he got her pregnant.”

“He said he doesn’t believe her but they are going to get a test done and regardless it’s clear he cheated on me. I am distraught yet again and am picking up the pieces and doing my best to move on. I know that I only have myself to blame for the situation I’m in again. It’s no one’s fault but my own. I can safely say I am, once and for all, done with Jay,” said Martson at the time.

The ‘90 Day Fiancé’ couple is back together again

Though Ashley Martson may have claimed her 90 Day Fiancé relationship was over and done with, that was not the case after all. Martson and Jay Smith wound up back in each other’s arms.

Jay Smith posted a video to his Instagram recently that shows the two together. Smith begins the video lip-syncing before Martson makes an on-screen appearance. He then kisses Martson on the cheek, and doles out some bubbly for themselves and a friend. 

“Maybe This quarantine isn’t that bad after all,” Smith captioned the video.

“Wtf?!?! You guys won’t learn.” wrote one user. Another added, “I’m so confused. Y’all toxic on/off relationship.”

Ashley Martson claims Jay Smith misfiled divorce papers

Though the 90 Day Fiancé duo are back together again now, there were divorce papers in process for quite some time. Fans were frequently left on the hook, wondering whether or not Ashley Martson and Jay Smith had finally divorced. 

Now, it seems as though the slow process may have been due to Jay Smith. 90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates screencapped a conversation in which Martson suggested that Smith misfiled his paperwork. 

In the conversation, Martson claims she knew fans would lose their minds over her and Jay Smith reuniting, and that she wanted to entertain and irritate them. She went on to explain that she and Smith aren’t divorced.

“The paper work didn’t go through because he dated it 2029,” she said in the conversation. Fans seemed largely incredulous of the claim. 

One user commented, “Which lawyer wouldn’t pick that up LOL save us from the bullsh*t please and say nothing.”

“Yeah right. Like her attorney wouldn’t have noticed that error before filing the papers,” added another.
