’90 Day Fiancé’: How Tom Brooks Defends the Comment He Made About Darcey Silva Putting on Weight
90 Day Fiancé couple Tom Brooks and Darcey Silva are done for good. Fans of the show watched as their relationship gradually grew more contentious until they felt there was no choice but to split.
Today, Tom says he and Darcey don’t speak, but he’ll always think of her as a friend.
“Until all of this blows over, you’re still living in the story. It happened so long ago and you’re having to relive it and you can’t really detract from that. Yeah, I don’t know. She’ll always be my friend,” he said in an Instagram interview with The Domenick Nati Show on May 29.
Tom asks Darcey if she’s put on weight on ’90 Day Fiancé’
There was one interaction between Tom and Darcey in particular that stood out to fans as they cemented their break up. They were arguing over a cup of coffee about their relationship.
Tom told Darcey he’d like to stay friends and she said: “I don’t want to be friends. I’m sorry. I think we’re gonna walk away completely. Fresh start for myself, for my family, for my friends. And it’s gonna be that way and it’s gonna stay that way. Move on with your life. I don’t want anything to do with you. You are nothing to me right now.”
“I’m glad,” Tom replied. “And try not to ruin the next one.”
After Darcey asked for the check (to pay for her and Tom’s coffee), she said, “I’m happy to move on. I’ve got bigger and better coming.”
And Tom said, almost sheepishly, “Did you put weight on?”
When Darcey asked Tom to repeat himself he stayed silent. And she got up and left.
Tom says a fan slashed his tires because of the comment he made to Darcey
In his interview with Domenick Nati, Tom said his car tires were slashed just after that episode aired.
“I had all my car tires slashed,” he said. “It was the weekend after the ‘Have you put on weight?’ comment.”
Tom attempted to defend his statement by saying: “In fairness, I never said she was fat. And I never said I didn’t like her bigger.”
“Are you OK with bigger women?” asked the interviewer.
“Yeah, of course. I like a nice a*s,” responded Tom.
Tom is dating someone new, but he didn’t name any names. He said that she doesn’t live in the same town so their relationship currently depends on video chatting. They’ve been dating for “a few months.”
“We’re taking it nice and slow, not putting it in the public forum, not having them on TLC, trying to find some normality out of all the madness,” he said.
